Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) possess unique structural tunability, abundant coordination sites, and outstanding biosafety, rendering them highly advantageous for the development of high-performance magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents. In light of the significant advancements in MOF-derived theranostic platforms, a comprehensive overview focusing on their classification and clinically oriented applications is urgently required. This review provides an in-depth examination of various categories of MOF-derived contrast agents, including T1, T2, dual-mode, ratiometric and 19F imaging systems, and analyzes the correlation between structural characteristics and imaging performance. Furthermore, it highlights typical MRI-guided therapeutic applications, such as those related to atherosclerosis, bacterial infections, and cancer immunotherapy. The review systematically addresses existing challenges, including issues related to biodegradability, metabolic behavior, and biosafety. It also summarizes the rational design principles for novel MOF contrast agents, aiming to facilitate their transition from fundamental research to clinical applications.

  • Background: Peripheral neuropathy is a common and clinically heterogeneous neurological condition caused by metabolic, inflammatory, toxic, or traumatic factors and is associated with sensory deficits, neuropathic pain, motor impairment, and reduced functional capacity. Management remains challenging and often requires multimodal therapeutic approaches, as pharmacological monotherapy frequently provides incomplete symptom control. Objective: This narrative review explores the conceptual rationale for combining galantamine with iontophoresis and Black Sea brine-based therapy as a potential multimodal strategy for peripheral neuropathy management. Main Findings: Galantamine, a reversible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor and positive allosteric modulator of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, has demonstrated neuroprotective, neuromodulatory, and anti-inflammatory properties in experimental settings. Iontophoresis may provide a non-invasive method for targeted local drug delivery while reducing systemic exposure. Black Sea brine, widely used in Bulgarian balneological and rehabilitation practice, has been associated with improved circulation, pain reduction, and neuromuscular support. The reviewed evidence suggests biologically plausible complementary mechanisms; however, no direct clinical studies evaluating the combined intervention were identified. Limitations: Current evidence is indirect and derived from separate investigations of galantamine, iontophoresis, and brine-based therapy, as well as heterogeneous historical and regional sources. Therefore, the proposed combination should be considered hypothesis-generating rather than evidence-established. Conclusions: The combination of galantamine, iontophoresis, and Black Sea brine represents a potentially interesting multimodal concept for peripheral neuropathy rehabilitation. Well-designed preclinical and clinical studies are required to determine safety, feasibility, optimal treatment parameters, and therapeutic efficacy.

  • Falls among older adults are a major public health concern, yet collecting large-scale real fall data for radar-based detection is ethically and practically difficult. This study presents a controlled simulation-to-real feasibility study for trip-fall detection using continuous-wave (CW) Doppler radar. The method couples a physics-informed kinematic trip-fall model with a CW radar observation model to synthesize I/Q signals and Doppler spectrograms, while domain randomization varies body size, fall direction, initial velocity, sensor placement, aspect angle, amplitude, and noise. Synthetic walking and respiration data were also generated for controlled three-class classification among trip fall, walking, and seated quiet breathing. In Experiment I, the simulated spectrograms reproduced the dominant time–frequency characteristics of measured enacted trip-fall signals acquired with a 24 GHz CW radar; quantitative similarity analysis yielded a mean SSIM of 0.782 and a Doppler-ridge MAE of 24.6 Hz across five fall directions. In Experiment II, a ResNet-18 classifier trained only on simulated spectrograms achieved a macro-F1 score of 0.912 [95% CI: 0.883–0.936] on measured data from ten participants, three start locations, and eight directions. Under the present controlled evaluation, this exceeded the available real-data-trained baseline of 0.748 [95% CI: 0.691–0.805] (paired subject-level permutation test, p=0.006). These findings suggest that physics-informed simulation with domain randomization can reduce dependence on real trip-fall samples under limited-data conditions. The results do not establish robustness to other fall morphologies, fall-like activities of daily living, different environments, different radar devices, or embedded deployment.

  • Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-based hydrogels suffer from insufficient mechanical strength, while aramid nanofibers (ANF) have intrinsic insulation that limits their sensing applications, and the synergistic effect of composite fillers remains underexplored. This study aims to develop a multifunctional PVA/ANF/NaCl composite organohydrogel for high-performance flexible sensors. The gel was fabricated via freeze–thaw crosslinking, solvent exchange and NaCl impregnation, with systematic investigations of its microstructure, mechanical, electrical and multifunctional sensing properties, and a corresponding triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) and self-powered handwriting recognition system were constructed. Results show that 2% ANF significantly enhances the gel’s mechanical performance, 0.5 M NaCl achieves optimal mechanical-electrical balance, the gel-based sensor exhibits excellent distance, pressure and strain sensing with high cyclic stability, the TENG delivers stable electrical output, and the recognition system achieves 95% accuracy on the test set. This work provides a new material and design strategy for advanced flexible electronic devices.

  • Accurate prediction of invasive species diffusion is essential for effective management and ecological conservation. Existing spatio-temporal Cox process models face limitations due to the separability assumption, which fails to capture spatio-temporal coupling dynamics inherent in biological diffusion processes. This study proposes a Spatio-Temporal Interaction Kernel Cox (STIK-Cox) model that constructs a non-separable conditional intensity function integrating baseline intensity, spatial and temporal proximity kernels, seasonal fluctuation, and a spatio-temporal interaction term. The model employs maximum likelihood estimation with Limited-memory Broyden–Fletcher–Goldfarb–Shanno with Bounds (L-BFGS-B) optimisation and incorporates SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) for interpretability analysis. Using the Vespa mandarinia (Hymenoptera, Vespidae) monitoring dataset from Washington State, the model achieves a comprehensive accuracy score of 0.957, a capture rate of 98.74% at a 0.5° threshold, and a mean prediction error of 0.0802°. K-function analysis confirms effective capture of spatial clustering patterns, while SHAP analysis reveals longitude as the primary predictive driver. The non-separable design outperforms conventional methods including inverse distance weighting and Poisson point processes. This framework demonstrates the potential of non-separable spatio-temporal point processes for invasive species early warning, providing a scientific basis for targeted monitoring and resource allocation in ecological management.

  • Background/Objectives: Although urban greening interventions are increasingly implemented to improve livability, environmental quality, and adaptation capacity in cities, their evaluation still predominantly relies on physical outputs rather than validated, resident-centered outcomes. This study examined whether the five-item attachment dimension of the Urban Green Attachment Scale (UGAS) can reliably indicate the social integration of newly introduced greenery in an SDG 11-oriented evaluation context. The present adaptation of the UGAS captures the perceived importance of the planting, its contribution to well-being, anticipated loss, willingness to protect it, and aesthetic appreciation. Methods: Data were collected through two independent face-to-face surveys conducted among residents of the same housing estate shortly after a greening intervention in May 2025 (n = 150) and September 2025 (n = 191). The first sample was used for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and the second for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s α and McDonald’s ω; inter-item associations were estimated using Kendall’s tau-b; and construct validity was examined through known-groups comparisons with theoretically relevant appraisals and stewardship-related indicators. Results: The adapted UGAS demonstrated high internal consistency, low floor and ceiling effects, and moderate to strong inter-item associations. Exploratory factor analysis supported a unidimensional solution with high loadings and 65.7% explained variance, and confirmatory factor analysis corroborated this structure after minor, theory-guided localized refinements. Higher UGAS scores were consistently observed among residents who reported stronger calming and home-related effects, perceived healthier local conditions, expressed willingness to help care for the plants, and demonstrated a readiness to cooperate in improving the area. Conclusions: The results support the five-item UGAS attachment score as a compact, psychometrically adequate measure of residents’ attachment to newly planted urban greenery. Rather than replacing official SDG indicators, the UGAS can complement them at the project level by determining if urban greening becomes socially meaningful and accepted and if it supports stewardship. In this sense, UGAS offers municipalities a practical tool for linking physical greening outputs with resident-centered outcomes relevant to inclusive public spaces, participatory urban development, and the long-term social durability of urban greening interventions.

  • Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) remains a lethal malignancy requiring novel therapeutic strategies due to high recurrence and chemoresistance. This study evaluated the combined antitumor effect of metformin and the co-transfection of tumor-suppressor microRNAs miR-145 and miR-23b in A2780 and OV90 EOC cell lines using both 2D and 3D models. In monolayer cultures, our approach significantly reduced the expression of proliferation markers Ki-67 and c-MYC, and decreased cell migration and invasion in both cell lines compared to controls. In 3D spheroid models, the treatment reduced VEGF secretion and relative spheroid area in A2780 cells, significantly increasing cytotoxicity; however, OV90 spheroids exhibited marked resistance. Fluorescent miRNA tracking revealed that this resistance occurs despite successful intracellular delivery, indicating an intrinsic biological resistance conferred by the 3D microenvironment. Overall, these findings suggest that the combined administration of metformin and miRs effectively limits tumor progression, but also strongly underscore the importance of using complex 3D models to accurately evaluate therapeutic efficacy and intrinsic resistance mechanisms.

  • Background: Patient navigation has been recognized as a promising strategy to address fragmented cancer care; however, evidence from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) remains limited, particularly regarding how navigation-related needs are associated with patient-reported outcomes. Objective: This study aimed to examine the association between multidimensional patient navigation needs and quality of life (QoL) among women with gynecological cancer in Indonesia. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 128 women diagnosed with gynecological cancer at a referral hospital in Indonesia. Patient navigation needs were assessed using a 37-item multidimensional instrument developed based on international frameworks, while QoL was measured using the EORTC QLQ-C30. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression to evaluate the relationships and relative contributions of navigation need domains to QoL. Results: The mean global health status score indicated relatively low QoL (Mean = 41.7, SD = 31.0). Most domains of patient navigation needs were significantly and negatively associated with QoL (p < 0.001), with the strongest correlation observed for total navigation needs (r = −0.657). Multivariable analysis showed that administrative and financial needs showed the strongest association with poorer QoL (β = −0.373, p < 0.001), followed by psychosocial, cultural, and family support needs (β = −0.356, p < 0.001). In contrast, late-stage clinical needs were positively associated with QoL (β = 0.206, p = 0.005). The model explained 59.5% of the variance in QoL. Conclusions: Patient navigation needs are strongly associated with QoL among women with gynecological cancer, highlighting the critical role of system-level and psychosocial factors in shaping patient outcomes. Addressing administrative complexity, financial burden, and psychosocial support gaps is essential for improving QoL in LMIC settings. These findings provide novel evidence for developing context-specific, integrated patient navigation models to enhance cancer care delivery.
