Cover Story: The recent emergence of strain-free quantum dots (QDs) has resulted in a new design paradigm of nanophotonics. Light matter interactions can be manipulated using the front edge droplet epitaxy (DE) QDs to realize QD single-photon-source and fully integrated quantum photonics. This study presents precise control of the individual quantum confinement characteristics with respect to the composition profiles and geometric al shape asymmetries of GaAs/Al0.3Ga0.7As DE QDs. Furthermore, the exciton oscillator strength can be increased to become approximately 7% for axial ratios of 0.25 1 by controlling the shape anisotropy of four types of Al interdiffused DE QDs.
