Conference: 4th Joint Conference on Environmental Chemicals

This conference is organized by the Japan Society of Endocrine Disruptors Research, the Japan Society of Environmental Toxicology, and the Japan Society of Environmental Chemistry. This is the 33rd conference, which will be a place to widely appeal to the importance of research related to the environment and chemical substances to society and to expand scientific knowledge of and management of chemicals that supports “sustainable development” while understanding the risks of chemicals. The theme in 2025 is “A new challenge in environmental chemical research—Collaboration across research fields”.

MDPI will be attending the 11th World Conference of the Ecosystem Services Partnership in Darwin, Australia, which will take place from 23 to 27 June 2025. The Ecosystem Services Partnership (ESP) is one of the largest network organizations in the field of ecosystem services worldwide. Mother Earth is sending us an urgent call to action as nature suffers from the devastating impacts of human activity. MDPI International Mother Earth Day Webinar Secretariat

MDPI will be attending the 6th Nitrogen Biogeochemical Cycle Academic Forum, which will be held from 11 to 13 April 2025 in Nanjing, China.

Nitrogen is one of the cornerstones of life on Earth. The application of nitrogen fertilizers has increased food production, feeding approximately half of the world’s population. However, at the same time, the large-scale input of nitrogen fertilizers and other forms of reactive nitrogen has had a profound impact on the global ecosystem, leading to a series of ecological and environmental problems, such as increased greenhouse gas emissions, intensified soil acidification, eutrophication of water bodies, and loss of biodiversity.

This forum is hosted by the Nitrogen Working Group of the Chinese Society of Soil Science. With the theme of “Nitrogen Cycling and Planetary Boundaries”, it invites renowned experts and scholars from China and abroad to discuss important topics including nitrogen cycling in farmland ecosystems, nitrogen cycling in wetlands and water bodies, nitrogen cycling in forests and grasslands, atmospheric nitrogen cycling, the microbiological mechanisms of nitrogen cycling, and nitrogen management and policies. The forum will conduct comprehensive academic exchanges and discussions through various formats, including academic reports and poster presentations. The forum will set up a special session on “A Decade Review of Nitrogen Research in China”; share research experience in the career of famous scientists in the field; host a special session for postgraduate students; and more. Moreover, it will release the “Top Ten Scientific Advances in Nitrogen Cycling Research of the Year” to showcase the latest achievements in nitrogen cycling.

In order to further enhance the international influence of the journal Environments (ISSN: 2076-3298), promote the academic exchange of young scientists, and support the Editorial Board with additional expertise, Environments is inviting interested and eligible early career researchers to apply for Early Career Editorial Board (ECEB) membership.

Recruitment:
A total of 20–30 Early Career Editorial Board Members are planned to be recruited this round. Early Career Editorial Board (ECEB) Members will hold the position for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a second term.

Application eligibility:

• Completed their doctorate/Ph.D. degree in the past 10 years;
• Evidence of significant research achievements in the field of gel materials;
• Willingness to spend enough time to contribute to the development of the journal with passion and enthusiasm;
• Researchers that are active and engaged in their community (e.g., those who are experienced at presenting at academic conferences or involved in professional organizations).

Benefits of Early Career Editorial Board Members include the following:

• A certificate indicating your Early Career Editorial Board Member status will be provided. The standard term of Early Career Editorial Board membership is two years and can then be renewed;
• The resumes of Early Career Editorial Board Members will be publicized on journal media platforms to improve academic visibility;
• An opportunity to be promoted to an Editorial Board Member based on contributions;
• The journal will regularly acknowledge those who participate in the peer review process on the journal’s website;
• Opportunities to exchange ideas with internationally influential researchers in this field and opportunities to participate in or host annual meetings and online seminars organized by the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Members.

Responsibilities of Early Career Editorial Board Members include the following:

• Publicizing and promoting the journal at academic conferences and among peers;
• Selecting high-quality articles and preparing bilingual media content for promotion;
• Reviewing at least three manuscripts per year;
• Inviting submissions from local and overseas world-leading scientists in respective research fields;
• Serving as a consultant on new initiatives for journal development.
