About International Journal of Environmental Medicine

Aims

The International Journal of Environmental Medicine (ISSN 3042-7681) aims to serve as an international peer-reviewed platform addressing the critical intersections of environmental exposures, human health, and sustainability. In a world facing escalating environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution, biodiversity loss, and health inequities, the journal will provide a dedicated space for cutting-edge research that explores the connections between environmental factors and human health outcomes. By integrating scientific, clinical, and public health perspectives, the journal seeks to bridge knowledge gaps and emphasize practical applications that mitigate risks, foster resilience, and improve the quality of life globally.

International Journal of Environmental Medicine engages experts across diverse fields, including environmental toxicology, epidemiology, climate science, engineering and architecture, public health, and urban planning, reflecting its holistic and integrative focus.

Mission and audience

The journal's mission is to foster a One Health perspective, bridging gaps between scientific disciplines to offer evidence-based solutions for environmental and health challenges. It targets researchers, public health professionals, policymakers, and engineers designing sustainable living environments, providing insights into environmental and social determinants of health and practical strategies for resilience and equity.

Unique focus

The journal distinguishes itself by combining environmental science with clinical and epidemiological insights, offering actionable solutions. It emphasizes measurable health impacts and interdisciplinary approaches, surpassing the broader focus of comparable publications.

Scope

  1. Environmental exposures and health:
  • Studies on air, water, and soil pollution; exposure to chemical–physical and biological pollutants, noise, light, odors, electromagnetic pollution, and radiation; impacts of pollutants on skin and respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and oncological health.
  1. The built environment and public health:
  • Exploration of urban design, urban resilience and urban health factors, air quality, heat and noise mitigation, and green and blue spaces in enhancing mental and physical health.
  • Focus on biophilic design, environmental psychology, sustainable urban planning, ergonomic environments, and health design to address health inequities, prevent diseases, and improve worker performance.
  1. One Health approach:
  • Research on the interconnectedness of human, animal, and ecosystem health.
  • Studies on zoonotic diseases, climate change impacts, and biodiversity loss, promoting cross-sectoral collaboration.
  1. Environmental justice and health equity:
  • Analysis of disparities in exposure to environmental hazards among socioeconomically disadvantaged communities.
  • Promotion of policies to ensure equitable access to clean resources, safe living conditions, and healthcare.
  1. Environmental policies and interventions:
  • Evaluation of preventive and corrective actions to address pollution, climate adaptation, and sustainability.
  • Integration of innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence and biomonitoring tools, for real-time risk management and mitigation.
