Cover Story: The binding of the benzophenanthridine-based alkaloid chelerythrine to G-quadruplex DNA structures is studied using a mixed computational and experimental approach involving the circular dichroism technique. With such a strategy, we are able to thoroughly describe the interaction of small molecules with different DNA conformations. In particular, chelerythrine may be seen as a building block for promising drug candidates specifically targeting G-quadruplexes for both antitumoral and antiviral purposes. View this paper.
