Cover Story: The novelty described in this paper is a formal description of a vineyard configuration (layout) extended by a set of parameters related to individual vineyard elements and the vineyard as a whole. We also present a method for estimating the energy consumption of the robotic system based on this formal description and on input data collected before the pure deployment of the described robotic system. The main advantage of our approach is that it allows the end user to estimate the duration and energy requirements for using the robot in the desired vineyard before visiting the vineyard. In addition, the design of the hardware for use in steep vineyards and two experiments in which the proposed methodology was demonstrated are presented. View this paper
