Cover Story: This study examines the growth and biomass accumulation of petunia and basil in substrates with varying ratios of peat and wood fiber, as well as different lime and fertilizer treatments. Results indicate that petunia grew best in peat-rich substrates, while basil performed well across a range of pH levels. The findings highlight that wood fiber can be a viable alternative to peat in horticulture, especially when combined with proper fertilization and pH management, contributing to more sustainable growing practices.
