Cover Story: Medium-sized commercial buildings account for approximately 50% of Australia’s commercial office building stock. There are significant opportunities to achieve energy and greenhouse gas emission reductions by using solar-assisted cooling technologies. This study models the performance of solar desiccant-evaporative cooling, solar absorption cooling and hybrid solar desiccant-compression cooling for all eight Australian capital cities in five climate zones. The technical, environmental, and economic performance of each system is compared. View the paper here.
