Cover Story: This paper examines the reproducibility of dual-head manufacturing workflow applied to the manufacturing of anthropomorphic breast phantoms, by comparing 2D and 3D imaging characteristics of identically manufactured breast phantoms. The study hypothesises that the proposed workflow enables reliable and reproducible phantom fabrication for breast imaging applications. The phantoms were fabricated with fused filament fabrication 3D printer and ABS and ASA materials to replicate adipose and glandular tissues, and were evaluated using mammography and tomosynthesis imaging. Results showed strong agreement among the phantoms, with most radiomic features demonstrating very low variability and high structural similarity. These findings support the use of these phantoms in specific tasks such as imaging evaluation and radiomics-based studies. View this paper
