Journal of Clinical Medicine | Summary of the Academic Publishing Workshop at University of Buckingham and Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Held on 13 March 2026

Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN: 2077-0383), an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to clinical medicine, is published online semimonthly by MDPI. We are pleased to announce that JCM has successfully hosted its first Academic Publishing Workshop: A TCRG (Translational Cardiovascular Research Group) Research Masterclass on 13 March 2026 at University of Buckingham and Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Professor Attila Kardos for his full support in this workshop. We are delighted to have introduced JCM to medical students, postdoctoral researchers, and other early-career researchers through this offline workshop and to have shared key information regarding open access publishing.

Below is a brief summary of the workshop:

  • Initially, the host gave an introduction to the TCRG, the research completed at this institute and how the medical students in the audience may be able to benefit from collaborating with TCRG;
  • To introduce the presentation, we explained who MDPI is and where the UK office is located. We talked about JCM, going over the journal metrics, article processing time, where it is indexed and the societies we collaborate with. We demonstrated the scope of the journal and highlighted the sections relevant for the audience who work in cardiology research. We introduced the Editorial Board and showed the Editorial Board Members who are located at Milton Keynes University Hospital, as well as authors from the institution;
  • We talked about how to write a scientific paper, including how to do a literature search, how to structure a paper and how each section should be written, with examples from JCM. We then described how a manuscript should be formatted, for MDPI journals and more generally. Next, we explained the importance of raw data and proper citation of previous works, as well as citation/data policies at MDPI. Finally, we spoke about how to choose a journal;
  • We addressed the role AI plays in academic publishing, including considerations both for reviewers and authors. We explained the editorial process at MDPI, highlighting the many manuscript checks done after manuscript submission. We advised the audience on responding to reviewer comments, as well as how to deal with manuscript rejection.

We would like to thank all participants for joining this workshop. We hope you have gained a better understanding of JCM through this event. You are welcome to follow our social media accounts to follow our upcoming activities, and we look forward to your continued participation and valuable contributions.

We hope to continue to establish in-depth and diversified collaborations with early career researchers to foster academic exchange among young scientists. We are recruiting Editorial Board Members. And, to enrich this Section’s academic content and advancing frontier research, we welcome Special Issue Proposals

In addition, we invite you to join our upcoming  online webinar, “Advancement in the Diagnosis of ANOCA/INOCA”, which will be held on 29 April 2026. To learn more about the webinar information, please visit: https://sciforum.net/event/JCM-22.

Journal of Clinical Medicine Young Investigator Award—Winner Announced

Dear colleagues,

As the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN: 2077-0383), I am pleased to announce the recipient of the 2025 Young Investigator Award. The award has been granted to Mr. Hidenori Takahashi, a physician in the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Tokyo Shinagawa Hospital, Tokyo 140-8522, Japan.

Dr. Takahashi was selected in recognition of his outstanding research contributions across interdisciplinary areas of clinical medicine, particularly his work on eosinophilic myocarditis and related immune-mediated conditions. As the awardee, he will receive an honorarium of CHF 2000 and an electronic certificate.

The award was evaluated based on the applicants’ track record of producing groundbreaking research and their significant contribution to the advancement of their research field. Given the high quality of the applications, the evaluation process and final decision were challenging. We would like to thank all the applicants for submitting such a wide and fascinating range of research topics.

On behalf of the assessment committee, I congratulate the winner on this accomplishment.

Journal of Clinical Medicine Webinar | Advancement in the Diagnosis of ANOCA/INOCA, 29 April 2026

It is our pleasure to welcome you to this webinar, which will focus on recent advancements in the diagnostic evaluation of ANOCA (Angina with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries) and INOCA (Ischaemia with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries). We are privileged to convene a panel of leading specialists who will present the latest scientific developments in both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic methodologies, with the objective of delineating the diverse endotypes associated with ANOCA and INOCA.

Our program will extend beyond the investigation of coronary microvascular dysfunction, incorporating an analysis of coronary vasoreactivity and its influence on both the epicardial and microvascular compartments. We will examine the physiological mechanisms underpinning coronary microcirculation and the associated pathophysiological processes. Additionally, the session will feature patient-reported experiences regarding their diagnostic pathways, providing critical insight into the often complex and multifaceted nature of disease recognition.

Throughout the webinar, distinguished experts representing the principal cardiovascular imaging modalities will critically evaluate the advantages and limitations of PET-CT, Cardiac MRI perfusion, and advanced stress echocardiography. These modalities will be considered in their capacity as supplementary non-invasive diagnostic tools, in conjunction with the gold standard of invasive functional coronary assessment, thereby enhancing the precision and scope of ANOCA/INOCA diagnosis.

We trust that this webinar will offer an enriching educational experience, equipping attendees with a deeper understanding of the pathophysiology and diagnostic challenges faced by patients. By streamlining diagnostic testing, we aim to promote early diagnosis and appropriate management, improving outcomes for those affected by these complex conditions.

Thank you for joining us, and we look forward to a stimulating and informative discussion.
