Data annotation serves as a critical foundation for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Recently, AI agents powered by large language models (LLMs) have emerged as effective solutions to longstanding challenges in data annotation, such as scalability, consistency, cost, and limitations in domain expertise. These agents facilitate intelligent automation and adaptive decision-making, thereby enhancing the efficiency and reliability of annotation workflows across various fields. Despite the growing interest in this area, a systematic understanding of the role and capabilities of AI agents in annotation is still underexplored. This paper seeks to fill that gap by providing a comprehensive review of how LLM-driven agents support advanced reasoning strategies, adaptive learning, and collaborative annotation efforts. We analyze agent architectures, integration patterns within workflows, and evaluation methods, along with real-world applications in sectors such as healthcare, finance, technology, and media. Furthermore, we evaluate current tools and platforms that support agent-based annotation, addressing key challenges such as quality assurance, bias mitigation, transparency, and scalability. Lastly, we outline future research directions, highlighting the importance of federated learning, cross-modal reasoning, and responsible system design to advance the development of next-generation annotation ecosystems. Background and Objectives: Depression is a leading cause of disability globally, with treatment challenges including limited access, stigma, and poor adherence. Gamification, which applies game elements such as points, levels, and storytelling into non-game contexts, offers a promising strategy to enhance engagement and augment traditional treatments. Our research is the first study designed to explore the implementation of gamification within the Malaysian context. The objective was to explore the feasibility of implementation of gamification as an adjunctive treatment for adults with depression. Materials and Methods: Focus group discussions were held with five mental health professionals and ten patients diagnosed with moderate depression. The qualitative component assessed perceptions of gamified interventions, while quantitative measures evaluated participants’ depressive and anxiety symptomatology. Results: Three key themes were identified: (1) understanding of gamification as a treatment option, (2) factors influencing its acceptance, and (3) characteristics of a practical and feasible intervention. Clinicians saw potential in gamification to boost motivation, support psychoeducation, and encourage self-paced learning, but they expressed concerns about possible addiction, stigma, and the complexity of gameplay for some patients. Patients spoke of gaming as a source of comfort, escapism, and social connection. Acceptance was shaped by engaging storylines, intuitive design, balanced difficulty, therapist guidance, and clear safety measures. Both groups agreed that gamification should be used in conjunction with standard treatments, be culturally sensitive, and be presented as a meaningful therapeutic approach rather than merely as entertainment. Conclusions: Gamification emerges as an acceptable and feasible supplementary approach for managing depression in Malaysia. Its success depends on culturally sensitive design, robust clinical oversight, and seamless integration with existing care pathways. Future studies should investigate long-term outcomes and establish guidelines for the safe and effective implementation of this approach. We recommend targeted investment into culturally adapted gamified tools, including training, policy development, and collaboration with key stakeholders to realistically implement gamification as a mental health intervention in Malaysia. Space-Air-Ground Integrated Network (SAGIN), which is considered a network architecture with great development potential, exhibits significant cross-domain collaboration characteristics at present. However, most of the existing works ignore the matching and adaptability of differential tasks and heterogeneous resources, resulting in significantly inefficient task execution and undesirable network performance. As a consequence, we formulate a category attribute-oriented resource allocation and task offloading optimization problem with the aim of minimizing the overall scheduling cost. We first introduce a task–resource matching matrix to facilitate optimal task offloading policies with computation resources. In addition, virtual queues are constructed to take the impacts of randomized task arrival into account. To solve the optimization objective which jointly considers bandwidth allocation, transmission power control and task offloading decision effectively, we proposed a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm framework considering type matching. Simulation experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm as well as superior performance compared to others. Full article

The aircraft nose-wheel steering system serves as a critical component for ensuring ground taxiing safety and maneuvering efficiency. However, its dynamic control stability faces significant challenges under complex operational conditions. Existing research predominantly focuses on single-discipline modeling, with insufficient in-depth analysis of the coupling effects between hydraulic system dynamics and mechanical dynamics. Traditional PID controllers exhibit limitations in scenarios involving nonlinear time-varying conditions caused by normal load fluctuations of the landing gear buffer strut during high-speed landing phases, including increased control overshoot and inadequate adaptability to abrupt load variations. These issues severely compromise the stability of high-speed deviation correction and overall aircraft safety. To address these challenges, this study constructs a digital twin model based on real aircraft data and innovatively implements multidisciplinary co-simulation via Simcenter 3D, AMESim 2021.1, and MATLAB R2020a. A fuzzy adaptive PID controller is specifically designed to achieve adaptive adjustment of control parameters. Comparative analysis through co-simulation demonstrates that the proposed mechanical–electrical–hydraulic collaborative control strategy significantly reduces response delay, effectively minimizes control overshoot, and decreases hydraulic pressure-fluctuation amplitude by over 85.2%. This work provides a novel methodology for optimizing steering stability under nonlinear interference scenarios, offering substantial engineering applicability and promotion value. Full article

Artificial intelligence has taken a seat at the executive table and is threatening the fact that human beings are the only ones who should be in a position of power. This article gives conjectures on the future of leadership in which managers will collaborate with learning algorithms in the Neural Adaptive Artificial Intelligence Leadership Model, which is informed by the transformational literature on leadership and socio-technical systems, as well as the literature on algorithmic governance. We assessed the model with thirty in-depth interviews, system-level traces of behavior, and a verified survey, and we explored six hypotheses that relate to algorithmic delegation and ethical oversight, as well as human judgment versus machine insight in terms of agility and performance. We discovered that decisions are made quicker, change is more effective, and interaction is more vivid where agile practices and good digital understanding exist, and statistical tests propose that human flexibility and definite governance augment those benefits as well. It is single-industry research that contains self-reported measures, which causes research to be limited to other industries that contain more objective measures. Practitioners are provided with a practical playbook on how to make algorithmic jobs meaningful, introduce moral fail-safes, and build learning feedback to ensure people and machines are kept in line. Socially, the practice is capable of minimizing bias and establishing inclusion by visualizing accountability in the code and practice. Filling the gap between the theory of leadership and the reality of algorithms, the study provides a model of intelligent systems leading in organizations that can be reproduced. Full article

Recent years have seen frequent heavy rainfall events in Japan, often linked to Baiu fronts and typhoons. These events are exacerbated by global warming, leading to an increased frequency and intensity. As floods represent a serious threat to sustainable urban development and community resilience, this study contributes to sustainability-focused risk reduction through integrated analysis. This study focuses on the 2 June 2023 heavy rain disaster in Toyohashi City, Japan, which caused extensive damage due to flooding from the Yagyu and Umeda Rivers. Using numerical models, this study accurately reproduces flooding patterns, revealing that high tides amplified the inundation area by 1.5 times at the Yagyu River. A resident questionnaire conducted in collaboration with Toyohashi City identifies key trends in evacuation behavior and disaster information usage. Traditional media such as TV remain dominant, but younger generations leverage electronic devices for disaster updates. These insights emphasize the need for targeted information dissemination and enhanced disaster preparedness strategies, including online materials and flexible training programs. The methods and findings presented in this study can inform local and regional governments in building adaptive disaster management policies, which contribute to a more sustainable society. Flocculants are indispensable in water and wastewater treatment, enabling the aggregation and removal of suspended particles, colloids, and emulsions. However, the conventional development and application of flocculants rely heavily on empirical methods, which are time-consuming, resource-intensive, and environmentally problematic due to issues such as sludge production and chemical residues. Recent advances in machine learning (ML) have opened transformative avenues for the design, optimization, and intelligent application of flocculants. This review systematically examines the integration of ML into flocculant research, covering algorithmic approaches, data-driven structure–property modeling, high-throughput formulation screening, and smart process control. ML models—including random forests, neural networks, and Gaussian processes—have successfully predicted flocculation performance, guided synthesis optimization, and enabled real-time dosing control. Applications extend to both synthetic and bioflocculants, with ML facilitating strain engineering, fermentation yield prediction, and polymer degradability assessments. Furthermore, the convergence of ML with IoT, digital twins, and life cycle assessment tools has accelerated the transition toward sustainable, adaptive, and low-impact treatment technologies. Despite its potential, challenges remain in data standardization, model interpretability, and real-world implementation. This review concludes by outlining strategic pathways for future research, including the development of open datasets, hybrid physics–ML frameworks, and interdisciplinary collaborations. By leveraging ML, the next generation of flocculant systems can be more effective, environmentally benign, and intelligently controlled, contributing to global water sustainability goals. The rapid evolution of Industry 4.0 technologies has resulted in a scenario in which collaborative networks are essential to overcome the challenges related to their implementation. However, the frameworks to guide such collaborations remain underexplored. This study addresses this gap by proposing Business Rules and Goals Models to operationalize Industry 4.0 solutions through enterprise collaboration. Using the For Enterprise Modeling (4EM) method, the research integrates qualitative insights from expert opinions, including interviews with 12 professionals (academics, industry professionals, and consultants) from Brazilian manufacturing sectors. The Goals Model identifies five main objectives—competitiveness, efficiency, flexibility, interoperability, and real-time collaboration—while the Business Rules Model outlines 18 actionable recommendations, such as investing in digital infrastructure, upskilling employees, and standardizing information technology systems. The results reveal that cultural resistance, limited resources, and knowledge gaps are critical barriers, while interoperability and stakeholder integration emerge as enablers of digital transformation. The study concludes that successfully adopting Industry 4.0 requires technological investments, organizational alignment, structured governance, and collaborative ecosystems. These models provide a practical roadmap for companies navigating the complexities of Industry 4.0, emphasizing adaptability and cross-functional synergy. The research contributes to the literature on collaborative networks by connecting theoretical frameworks with actionable enterprise-level strategies. Full article

Industrial Vision Inspection Systems (VISs) often struggle to adapt to increasing variability of modern manufacturing due to the inherent rigidity of their hardware architectures. Although the Reconfigurable Manufacturing System (RMS) paradigm was introduced in the early 2000s to overcome these limitations, designing such reconfigurable machines remains a complex, expert-dependent, and time-consuming task. This is primarily due to the lack of structured methodologies and the reliance on trial-and-error processes. In this context, this study proposes a novel theoretical framework to facilitate the design of fully reconfigurable handling systems for VISs, with a particular focus on fixture design. The framework is grounded in Model-Based Definition (MBD), embedding semantic information directly into the 3D CAD models of the inspected product. As an additional contribution, a general hardware architecture for the inspection of axisymmetric components is presented. This architecture integrates an anthropomorphic robotic arm, Numerically Controlled (NC) modules, and adaptable software and hardware components to enable automated, software-driven reconfiguration. The proposed framework and architecture were applied in an industrial case study conducted in collaboration with a leading automotive half-shaft manufacturer. The resulting system, implemented across seven automated cells, successfully inspected over 200 part types from 12 part families and detected more than 60 defect types, with a cycle below 30 s per part. Background: High-intensity gait training (HIT) is an evidence-based intervention recommended for stroke rehabilitation; however, its implementation in routine practice is inconsistent. This study examined the real-world implementation of HIT in an inpatient rehabilitation setting in Norway, focusing on fidelity, barriers, and knowledge translation (KT) strategies. Methods: Using the Knowledge-to-Action (KTA) framework, HIT was implemented in three phases: pre-implementation, implementation, and competency. Fidelity metrics and coverage were assessed in 99 participants post-stroke. Barriers and facilitators were documented and categorized using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research. Results: HIT was delivered with improved fidelity during the implementation and competency phases, reflected by increased stepping and heart rate metrics. A coverage rate of 52% was achieved. Barriers evolved over time, beginning with logistical and knowledge challenges and shifting toward decision-making complexity. The KT interventions, developed collaboratively by clinicians and external facilitators, supported implementation. Conclusions: Structured pre-implementation planning, clinician engagement, and external facilitation enabled high-fidelity HIT implementation in a real-world setting. Pragmatic, context-sensitive strategies were critical to overcoming evolving barriers. Future research should examine scalable, adaptive KT strategies that balance theoretical guidance with clinical feasibility to sustain evidence-based practice in rehabilitation. Full article

This study endeavors to elucidate the mechanisms and pathways through which the digital economy shapes agricultural green development, providing theoretical underpinnings and practical guidance for the green transformation of regional agriculture. (1) Using panel data from 18 prefecture-level cities in Sichuan Province (2013–2022), a comprehensive evaluation index system for agricultural green development was formulated. Fixed-effects, mediating-effects, and threshold-effects models were employed to systematically analyze the direct effects, transmission pathways, and nonlinear characteristics of the digital economy on agricultural green development. (2) The fixed-effects model shows that the digital economy markedly propels agricultural green development in Sichuan Province. The mediating-effects model verifies two transmission pathways: “digital economy → technological progression → agricultural green development” and “digital economy → industrial structure upgrading → agricultural green development”. The threshold-effects model suggests that when the digital economy is in the low-threshold interval, it exerts a suppressive impact on agricultural green development; however, once the threshold is surpassed, its promoting effect strengthens significantly. (3) The results demonstrate the following findings: First, the digital economy exerts a significant positive effect on agricultural green development. Second, this promoting effect exhibits significant nonlinear characteristics that vary with the level of digital economy development. Third, the impact manifests remarkable regional heterogeneity, necessitating context-specific development strategies. (4) Five optimization recommendations are proposed: promote the categorized development of agricultural digital technologies and industrial upgrading; advance digital infrastructure and technology adaptation in phases; design differentiated regional policies; establish a hierarchical and classified long-term guarantee mechanism; and strengthen the “industry-university-research-application” collaborative innovation and dynamic monitoring system. Technological roadmaps are essential tools for managing and planning complex projects, especially in the rapidly evolving field of space exploration. Defined as dynamic schedules, they support strategic and long-term planning while coordinating current and future objectives with particular technology solutions. Currently, the available methodologies are mostly built on experts’ opinions and in just few cases, methodologies and tools have been developed to support the decision makers with a rational approach. In any case, all the available approaches are meant to draw “ideal” maturation plans. Therefore, it is deemed essential to develop an integrate new algorithms able to decision guidelines on “non-nominal” scenarios. In this context, Politecnico di Torino, in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) and Thales Alenia Space–Italia, developed the Technology Roadmapping Strategy (TRIS), a multi-step process designed to create robust and data-driven roadmaps. However, one of the main concerns with its initial implementation was that TRIS did not account for time and budget estimates specific to the space exploration environment, nor was it capable of generating alternative development paths under constrained conditions. This paper discloses two main significant updates to TRIS methodology: (1) improved time and budget estimation to better reflect the specific challenges of space exploration scenarios and (2) the capability of generating alternative roadmaps, i.e., alternative technological maturation paths in resource-constrained scenarios, balancing financial and temporal limitations. The application of the developed routines to available case studies confirms the tool’s ability to provide consistent planning outputs across multiple scenarios without exceeding 20% deviation from expert-based judgements available as reference. The results demonstrate the potential of the enhanced methodology in supporting strategic decision making in early-phase mission planning, ensuring adaptability to changing conditions, optimized use of time and financial resources, as well as guaranteeing an improved flexibility of the tool. In the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), organizational resilience has emerged as a critical capability for navigating dynamic and turbulent environments. The ability of firms to sustain their performance despite external disruptions, particularly those arising from market and technological change, is paramount for achieving long-term sustainability. This study offers a novel contribution by examining how two key dimensions of environmental turbulence—market turbulence and technological turbulence—moderate the relationship between organizational resilience capacity and sustainability performance. Our empirical findings, based on data from 423 SMEs, demonstrate that while organizational resilience positively correlates with sustainability performance, this relationship is significantly weakened under high levels of market and technological turbulence, indicating a negative moderating effect. These results advance resource-based and dynamic capabilities theory by highlighting the contingent nature of resilience in unstable contexts. Furthermore, this study provides practical guidance. SMEs should strategically invest in resilience-building efforts and continuously adapt their strategies in response to environmental fluctuations. Targeted approaches to managing different forms of turbulence and forming resilience-oriented collaborations can enhance sustainability outcomes. Disassembly is a crucial process in industrial operations, especially in tasks requiring high precision and strict safety standards when handling components with collaborative robots. However, traditional methods often rely on rigid and sequential task planning, which makes it difficult to adapt to unforeseen changes or dynamic environments. This rigidity not only limits flexibility but also leads to prolonged execution times, as operators must follow predefined steps that do not allow for real-time adjustments. Although techniques like teleoperation have attempted to address these limitations, they often hinder direct human–robot collaboration within the same workspace, reducing effectiveness in dynamic environments. In response to these challenges, this research introduces an advanced human–robot interaction (HRI) system leveraging a mixed-reality (MR) interface embedded in a head-mounted device (HMD). The system enables operators to issue real-time control commands using multimodal inputs, including voice, gestures, and gaze tracking. These inputs are synchronized and processed via the Robot Operating System (ROS2), enabling dynamic and flexible task execution. Additionally, the integration of deep learning algorithms ensures precise detection and validation of disassembly components, enhancing accuracy. Experimental evaluations demonstrate significant improvements, including reduced task completion times, enhanced operator experience, and compliance with strict adherence to safety standards. This scalable solution offers broad applicability for general-purpose disassembly tasks, making it well-suited for complex industrial scenarios. Full article

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are increasingly being applied across the transplantation care pathway, supporting tasks such as donor–recipient matching, immunological risk stratification, early detection of graft dysfunction, and optimisation of immunosuppressive therapy. This review provides a structured synthesis of current AI applications in transplantation, with a focus on underrepresented areas including real-time graft viability assessment, adaptive immunosuppression, and cross-organ immune modelling. The review also examines the translational infrastructure needed for clinical implementation, such as federated learning, explainable AI (XAI), and data governance. Evidence suggests that AI-based models can improve predictive accuracy and clinical decision support when compared to conventional approaches. However, limitations related to data quality, algorithmic bias, model transparency, and integration into clinical workflows remain. Addressing these challenges through rigorous validation, ethical oversight, and interdisciplinary collaboration will be necessary to support the safe and effective use of AI in transplant medicine.
