Current Issues in Molecular Biology, Volume 48, Issue 8

2026 August - 103 articles

Cover Story: RNA therapeutics have transitioned from passive genetic intermediaries into versatile platforms, transforming the landscape of precision medicine. This review delineates the molecular architecture and mechanisms of established and next-generation platforms, including mRNA, ASOs, siRNAs, aptamers, CRISPR-guided systems and circRNAs. It examines strategies to overcome systemic delivery bottlenecks, assessing non-viral systems such as lipid nanoparticles, polymer- and peptide-based nanocarriers and ligand–RNA conjugates. Additionally, it highlights the clinical applications of RNA therapeutics, addresses the current safety and regulatory framework and examines how the integration of artificial intelligence can accelerate the shift towards a data-driven, predictive approach to personalized medicine. View this paper
