Dear Colleagues,
Animal viral diseases continue to pose a severe threat to global food security, livestock productivity, wildlife conservation, and public health, as was dramatically underscored by recent epidemics and zoonotic spillovers. A deep understanding of the molecular interplay between animal viruses and their hosts is no longer a purely academic pursuit, but also an urgent translational imperative. Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of viral entry, replication, assembly, and egress, together with the intricate host immune responses they provoke, provides the essential foundation for designing next-generation vaccines, antiviral therapeutics, and molecular diagnostic tools.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, entitled “Molecular Mechanisms of Animal Viral Infection and Host Immune Regulation”, which aims to assemble a focused collection of original research articles, short communications, and reviews addressing the above-mentioned fundamental questions. We particularly encourage contributions that dissect virus–host interactions at the molecular level, including innate and adaptive immune signaling, inflammasome activation, interferon responses, autophagy, cell death pathways, and viral immune evasion strategies across a broad range of animal hosts.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Current Issues in Molecular Biology is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
