Cover Story: Biomass pyrolysis is the process of thermochemical decomposition of organic materials under anaerobic conditions. This process produces three products: bio-oil, combustible gas, and char [4–6]. Among these products, bio-oil is of particular interest because of its potential use as fuel (either directly or after refinement using various methods) [7,8]. It contains defragmented components of the original biomass structure, mainly cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. However, the chemical composition and fuel properties of crude bio-oil differ from those of liquid fuels derived from fossil fuels, making it a subject of intensive research to optimize its preparation and processing.
