Cover Story: Key challenges for future Systems Engineering (SE) include translating concepts into practical actions for solving complex problems through formalized Transdisciplinary Integration (TDI). In this paper, we identify critical gaps: transdisciplinarity in SE is not yet established as a mindset and meta-discipline, while Transdisciplinary Integration Processes (TDIP) remain insufficiently formalized and rigorously applied. To address these gaps, we develop meta-level conceptual models for TDI and TDIP, a quantitative disciplinarity analysis method, and knowledge-driven integration mechanisms that support holistic reasoning, collaboration, and decision-making in complex adaptive systems. It establishes a foundation for coherent transdisciplinary solutions across diverse stakeholders and dimensions, forming relations in the broader systems. View this paper
