Cover Story: Preserving alveolar ridge dimensions after tooth extraction is critical for successful implant placement. This randomized controlled trial compares the use of two bone substitute materials, allogeneic and xenogeneic, in socket preservation procedures. Forty patients were enrolled, with outcomes assessed at six months through micro-CBCT imaging and histological analysis. Both materials demonstrated comparable effectiveness in maintaining ridge height and width. However, xenografts exhibited significantly higher radiographic bone density, while allografts showed faster remodeling into native bone tissue. These findings provide valuable clinical guidance for biomaterial selection in alveolar ridge preservation. View this paper
