Biomaterials and Devices for Healthcare Applications
A section of Journal of Functional Biomaterials (ISSN 2079-4983).
The aim of this section is to publish a combination of original research articles (communications and full papers) and insightful review articles that advance our knowledge about biomaterials and devices for healthcare applications for an audience including scientists, engineers, and clinicians in academic, government, and commercial settings.
The scope of this section includes knowledge underpinning the design, properties, and performance of biomaterials and devices used in healthcare (e.g., diagnosis/therapy). The materials/devices will be tested/modeled/validated in various paradigms (in vitro, ex vivo, in vivo), including undergoing clinical validation. Articles submitted by multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary teams (composed of scientists, engineers, and clinicians in both academic and non-academic settings) are asked to support knowledge exchange in various contexts.
There are no restrictions on the length of the manuscripts submitted (full experimental details must be provided to ensure reproducibility), and the clarity/readability of manuscripts is important in order to ensure the maximum benefit to the interdisciplinary readership. We particularly welcome interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary research and review articles, and Special Issues that address hot/emerging topics.
Following special issues within this section are currently open for submissions:
- Advanced Biomaterials to Combat Cancer (Deadline: 31 August 2022)
- Biomaterials Sourced from Nature (Deadline: 31 August 2022)
- Advanced Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications (Deadline: 30 December 2022)
