2017 JFB announced the first edition of the Travel Award.
2018 JFB was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), starting with Volume 9 (Issue 3).
2019 JFB received its first CiteScore (2019) of (4.1).
2020 JFB received a new CiteScore (2020) of (7.3).
2021 JFB was indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
JFB published its 500th paper.
JFB announced the first Highly Cited Paper Award.

JFB established the following sections:

Bone Biomaterials;
Dental Biomaterials;
Antibacterial Biomaterials;
Biomaterials for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine;
Biomaterials for Drug Delivery;

2022 JFB received a new CiteScore (2021) of 10.0, ranked Q1 in "Biomedical Engineering".
JFB received its first Impact Factor (4.901), ranked Q2 in "Engineering, Biomedical" and "Materials Science, Biomaterials".
2023 JFB adopted a monthly publication schedule.
