Cover Story: An autonomously driven vehicle (a robotic car) was developed based on artificial intelligence using a supervised learning method and computer vision algorithms for dataset creation. A scaled-down robotic car containing only one camera as a sensor was developed.
The classical computer vision algorithm processes the image to determine the optimal direction for the vehicle to follow on the track. With this algorithm, images were grabbed to incorporate a unique dataset. After the dataset was created, several trainings were carried out to reach the final neural network model.
The agent’s performance increased with machine learning methods, and the effectiveness of the proposed approach was additionally demonstrated through experimental results in real robotic cars, which performed better than expected. View this paper

HyperDE: An Adaptive Hyper-Heuristic for Global Optimization

  • Alexandru-Razvan Manescu and
  • Bogdan Dumitrescu

20 September 2023

In this paper, a novel global optimization approach in the form of an adaptive hyper-heuristic, namely HyperDE, is proposed. As the naming suggests, the method is based on the Differential Evolution (DE) heuristic, which is a well-established optimiz...
