Cover Story: Nanobubbles are defined as gas bubbles in liquids with a diameter of less than one micrometer and that possess a physically negligible buoyancy character. It was revealed in this study that nanobubbles when exposed to low-frequency ultrasound energy induce rapid bubble collapse. In this event, a nearby cell membrane was partially opened, permitting the inflow of genes into the cell, including mRNA. Furthermore, nanobubbles were administered via the spinal cord cavity in order to induce intracranial DNA delivery when ultrasound was exposed to the skull. This methodology holds promise for future applications in gene therapy of central nervous system diseases. View this paper
