Cover Story: Multidrug-resistant uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) is a major challenge in the treatment of urinary tract infections. Although phage therapy offers a promising alternative to antibiotics, choosing the right combination is key to successful treatment. To address this concern, we developed a systematic pipeline for designing phage cocktails tailored to superbugs from hospitalized patients. This pipeline guides the selection of effective, genetically diverse phages that, when combined, suppress MDR UPEC and reduce intracellular bacterial invasion in human urothelial cells. This work offers a practical framework for rational cocktail design, providing a promising strategy against multidrug-resistant urinary tract infections. View this paper
