Cover Story: Transition amplitudes usually have angular cross-terms embedded in square roots of quadratic forms that make integration difficult. Two-range addition theorems, characterized by the notation r> and r< within an infinite series, help one extract the angular elements, at the cost of the introduction of this awkward notation and (often) nearly cancelling terms of large magnitude that lead to round-off problems. One-range addition theorems remove the need for such notations and can bypass round-off errors, but they do so at the cost of the introduction of an additional infinite series. This paper derives an infinite set of addition theorems for Slater orbitals and its derivatives that retain the one-range variable dependence but avoid a second infinite series. View this paper
