World Development Information Day, 24 October 2026
We are excited to join the global community in celebrating World Development Information Day on 24 October. This day was created to draw global attention to fundamental development challenges and to emphasize the vital need for international cooperation to solve them.
By focusing on improving the dissemination of information and mobilizing public opinion, the United Nations (UN) highlights that sharing knowledge, leveraging modern information technologies, and closing global digital and scientific divides are essential preconditions for achieving sustainable global progress.
Echoing the mission of harnessing technological advances for global progress, established MDPI journals in Computer Science & Mathematics, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities and Chemistry & Materials Science fields serve as platforms for scientific communication, fostering innovation in secure Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) infrastructure and digital literacy to address global challenges and support sustainable development. While gaps in knowledge sharing remain, World Development Information Day offers a timely moment to reflect on collective progress and reaffirm our commitment to democratic knowledge sharing.
