Cover Story: Ovotransferrin, found in egg white, has the unique property of sequestering iron, which results in iron starvation in bacteria and further hindering their movement. Because of its strong iron-binding properties, ovotransferrin limits the growth of pathogenic microorganisms and may play a vital role as an alternative to antibiotics. Ovotransferrin also improves gut health, intestinal integrity, and balances the gut microbiota in animals. Besides these benefits, ovotransferrin has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-hypertensive, anticancer, and immuno-stimulating properties. Additionally, dietary supplementation with ovotransferrin improves growth performance, feed efficiency, and overall well-being in livestock by enhancing nutrient absorption and reducing disease incidence. View this paper
