The scope of veterinary internal medicine is the occurrence, development, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of animal diseases. Its main focus is common, frequent, and cluster diseases along with the mechanisms of disease occurrence, clinical signs, diagnoses, therapeutics, and prevention methods.
The Section Veterinary Internal Medicine publishes original peer-reviewed papers in the field of endocrinology, cardiology, gastroenterology, hematology (study of the blood), infectious diseases, nephrology/urology, neurology, respiratory diseases, pulmonology, oncology, and diseases of the immune system of animals.
