Pharmacology and toxicology are frontier areas of veterinary science. As emerging disciplines, they are involved in the development of new compounds, especially new antibiotics and antiparasitics for the control of infectious diseases, as well as analgesics/non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs for various animals. Toxicology and pharmacology are closely related to physiology and are critical to the success or failure of new drug candidates. Further, they are used in other fields such as plant protection products, industrial chemicals, food and feed safety, etc.
This Section is devoted to presenting new technologies and trends in the investigation of drugs and toxins in all animal species. We welcome contributions that include original research and review papers, covering all aspects of physiology, pharmacology, and toxicology. These will include contributions on issues such as:
- New veterinary drug screening, developments, and clinical practice;
- Effects of drugs, plants, xenobiotics, and toxins;
- Contaminants, drug residues, and pesticides in animal products and feed;
- Veterinary clinical pharmacology and therapeutics.
The detailed areas and disciplines involved include but are not limited to:
- Toxicodynamics/pharmacodynamics;
- Pharmacogenomics/pharmacogenetics;
- Toxicogenomics/toxicogenetics;
- Toxicokinetics/pharmacokinetics.
