Cover Story: The paper focuses on equity in groundwater vulnerability and risk in drinking water supplies in arid regions. Groundwater, a critical drinking water source in these areas, is becoming increasingly at risk from both natural and human-driven factors. Our study examines disparities in arsenic and nitrate contamination across water supply systems, aquifer types, and governance structures in Arizona, U.S. Through spatial and statistical analyses, we identify how these contamination risks disproportionately impact minority communities, rural areas, and other vulnerable populations. The findings underscore the need for targeted monitoring, equitable resource distribution, and tailored policy interventions to protect public health and ensure sustainable groundwater management. This work aims to advance equitable and sustainable water resource policies globally by offering actionable insights. View this paper
