World Mental Health Day—“Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change”, 10 October 2026
World Mental Health Day, marked on 10 October, is an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. It was first celebrated in 1992 at the initiative of the World Federation for Mental Health, a global mental health organization with members and contacts in more than 150 countries.
The theme of the 2026 World Mental Health Day, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change”, calls for the voices of people with lived experience (PWLE) of mental health issues to shape the policies, services and decisions that affect their lives.
In recognition of World Mental Health Day, MDPI reaffirms its commitment to advancing high-quality research and protecting the integrity of mental health studies. Through open access publishing, we support the dissemination of knowledge in social sciences, economics, life sciences, public health, medicine and pharmacology—ensuring that critical insights into reducing stigma and fostering psychological well-being are accessible to all, and empowering scholars to contribute to the ongoing evolution of equitable mental health care and social progress.
