Cover Story: Back muscle tension can negatively affect comfort, movement, and athletic performance in racehorses. TECAR therapy is increasingly used in equine rehabilitation, although scientific evidence of its effects remains limited. In this pilot study, we evaluated the immediate effects of TECAR therapy on the longissimus dorsi muscle in Thoroughbred racehorses. A single treatment produced a marked increase in body surface temperature that persisted for at least 10 min and was accompanied by a significant reduction in palpation-assessed muscle tone. These findings provide new evidence of the physiological response to TECAR therapy and support further investigation of its potential application in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation. View this paper
