Fire | Recruiting Editorial Board Members and Topical Advisory Panel Members for Section “Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation of Combustion and Fire”

Fire (ISSN: 2571-6255) is an international open access journal pertaining to the science, policy, and technology of fires and their interactions with communities and the environment. To develop a forum for the advancement of mathematical modeling and numerical simulation in the prediction and analysis of fire and combustion phenomena, we are pleased to announce the addition of a new Section “Mathematical Modelling and Numerical Simulation of Combustion and Fire”.

Combustion and fire science share the same fundamentals, but differ in their focus of application. Traditionally, the two subjects have been treated as distinct groups. This Section considers the common fundamentals and similarities between the two disciplines and provides a common platform. This should improve communication between the two research areas and serve to better exploit the existing synergetic potential.

Numerical simulations are increasingly used as predictive tools. With the increase in available computer resources as well as computational methods, the importance of simulation techniques is constantly growing. This Section is intended to reflect this and to emphasize the importance of modeling and simulation in combustion and fire research. It provides a dedicated platform for scientists and engineers to disseminate information on the development and improvement of mathematical and numerical models as well as software tools for the prediction and analysis of combustion, fire, and related phenomena.

We believe that application work can be as valuable as development work. Therefore, innovative applications of models and software tools are equally encouraged.

Although this Section is primarily concerned with the development and application of mathematical and numerical methods and software tools, adequately documented experimental studies that can serve as a database for model validation are also welcome.

We are currently recruiting Editorial Board Members (EBMs) and Topical Advisory Panel Members (TAPMs) for this Section. If you are an active researcher in this field and are passionate about publishing cutting-edge research, please contact us by email at minnie.li@mdpi.com.

Please also feel free to contact minnie.li@mdpi.com if you would like to submit papers to this Section.

2023 International Day of Forests

We hope you will join us in celebrating and further protecting the planet’s forests this International Day of Forests, which takes place on the 21st of March. The theme for the 2023 International Day of Forests is "Forests and Health”. Forests give so much to our health, they purify the water, clean the air, capture carbon to fight climate change, provide food and life-saving medicines, and improve our well-being. It is up to us to safeguard these precious natural resources. At MDPI, our open access journals are primarily available online, reducing the company’s impact on deforestation and helping to protect the world’s forests.

Increasing Visibility for Preprints.org – Clarivate adds the Preprint Citation Index to the Web of Science

On 9 February 2023, Clarivate, a global leader in providing trusted insights and analytics, added the Preprint Citation Index to the Web of Science platform, streamlining the research process by allowing researchers to locate and link to preprints alongside other trusted content in the database.

The Preprint Citation Index will act as a bridge to connect cutting-edge preprints with peer-reviewed journal articles published within the Web of Science Core Collection. Alerts can be easily set to monitor new research across several repositories and authors will also be able to include preprints on their Web of Science Research Profile to more accurately display their various research outputs.

As of its launch, the Preprint Citation Index will provide nearly two million preprints from various repositories, including MDPI’s own Preprints.org.

MDPI's Preprints Platform – Preprints.org

To advance Open Science and the fast dissemination of research, MDPI offers researchers a free multidisciplinary preprint platform. Preprints.org accepts submissions from all research areas and offers authors high visibility, permanent archiving, article-level Metrics and immediately citable content by assigning a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to all preprints.

During submission to any MDPI journal, authors have the option to share their research as a preprint. After an initial screening, the manuscript is available online in 48 hours or less. Once online, preprints can be downloaded, shared, commented on, and cited, providing authors maximum visibility.

We invite you to join the ranks of the over 100k researchers using Preprints.org and share your research.

For more information, please visit Preprints.org.
