Cover Story: The increasing importance of therapeutic antibodies in the treatment of cancer, autoimmune, and infectious diseases has led to a growing demand for efficient purification strategies in the manufacturing process. Efficient processes are characterized by high quality, low cost, and environmental friendliness. Miniaturization and automation capabilities have the potential to improve the efficiency of chromatographic processes. In this study, two miniaturized chromatographic formats are used to purify an IgG antibody from cell cultures. The automation of miniaturized chromatographic purification is realized with a liquid handling workstation. The system and the purification results are compared in terms of quality, cost, and sustainability, showing high yields and a significant reduction in laboratory waste. View this paper
