Cover Story: A false loop closure can distort both a drone's estimated trajectory and its 3D map. GSSeq turns a 3D Gaussian Splatting map into an active source of verification. For each LiDAR-proposed loop, it renders reference views and checks their agreement with camera and LiDAR observations across a short trajectory window before admitting the loop constraint. In offline tests with prebuilt maps, GSSeq suppresses false loop admissions. On the held-out NTU-VIRAL spms_02 sequence, it rejects all seven false candidates while retaining one of three true candidates. A controlled trajectory-to-map test reduces ATE RMSE from 2.609 m to 1.417 m and improves selected-view rendering quality. This precision-first approach helps preserve consistent trajectories and maps for UAV mapping and localization in GPS-denied environments. View this paper
