Cover Story: Forest musk deer are highly sensitive to human presence. Cameras can document their behavior, yet breeding facilities generate hours of footage that are difficult to review manually. A lightweight vision model was developed to recognize feeding, resting, upright activity, and elimination-related behavior in enclosure videos, even in scenes with dim lighting and varied body postures. In real livestock enclosure scenarios, its behavior-duration and event-count records aligned more closely with blinded manual observations than those of comparison models. Working with existing cameras, the framework provides behavior summaries that husbandry and veterinary staff can review without additional sensors or animal handling. View this paper
