World Tourism Day, 27 September 2026

Observed annually on 27 September, World Tourism Day acknowledges the pressing challenges facing tourism and encourages discussion of the sector’s ability to overcome them and drive wider positive change. This date was chosen to coincide with an important milestone in world tourism: the anniversary of the adoption of the UN Tourism Statutes in 1970.

To explore the way modern tourism has evolved, MDPI journals in Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities support research that explores the increasing digitalisation in tourism, providing relevant insights that can aid efficiency and innovation in this ever-changing era of artificial intelligence.
