2025 July - 67 articles

Cover Story: The paper presents the design and optimization of a spider-inspired soft actuator intended for extraterrestrial exploration. Mimicking spider limb movement, the actuator uses lightweight, flexible polymers and pneumatic chambers for adaptable, robust motion in rough planetary terrains. Optimization informed by experimental data improved limb dexterity and performance for dynamic motion. A simple demonstration robot was built, demonstrating efficient untethered soft robotic jumping and movement. View this paper
