10th Anniversary
The year 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of Biomimetics, a peer-reviewed open access journal on biomimicry and bionics, dedicated to research that relates to the most basic aspects of living organisms and the transfer of their properties to human applications. With an Impact Factor of 3.9 and a CiteScore of 4.2, the journal is covered in Scopus, SCIE (Web of Science), PubMed, PMC, Ei Compendex, CAPlus/SciFinder, and other databases. The journal has published more than 2800 papers from more than 11,100 authors. More than 5700 reviewers have reviewed the journal at least once. We equally value the contributions made by our editors, authors, and reviewers.
In honor of the journal’s 10th anniversary, we are reflecting on our past accomplishments and embarking on an exciting new chapter. We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone for our journal and to explore the content we have prepared for you below.
Journal History
Biomimetics became an affiliated journal of the International Society of Bionic Engineering (ISBE).
Biomimetics announced the first edition of the Travel award.
Biomimetics was indexed in Scopus—Elsevier, starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
Biomimetics received its first Impact Factor (3.743).
Biomimetics received its CiteScore (2021) of 5.2.
Prof. Dr. Stanislav N. Gorb was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Biomimetics.
Biomimetics was indexed in Ei Compendex.

Meet Us Online at the 3rd International Online Conference on Biomimetics (IOCB2026), 24–26 November 2026
We would like to invite you to join the 3rd International Online Conference on Biomimetics (IOCB2026), which will be hosted online from the 24 November to the 26 November 2026. IOCB2026 will be free of charge for presenters (and visitors).
This event is chaired by Prof. Dr. Stanislav N. Gorb and will take place entirely online, enabling participation from all over the world with no concerns regarding travel and related expenditures. IOCB2026 will delve into the latest advances in bioinspired technologies and systems, uniting experts from diverse disciplines to explore how nature’s strategies can transform modern science, engineering, and design.
