2020 September - 275 articles

Cover Story: A synergetic coupling of synchrotron-based in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction with laboratory in situ Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy has allowed for detailed characterization of both metal and substrate upon adsorption of ethylene on supported palladium nanoparticles, which is a key step in various catalytic reactions. The analysis of time-resolved data demonstrated continuous dehydrogenation of ethylene to C2H3, C2H2 and C2H species, with its final decomposition into atomic carbon with formation of the palladium carbide phase.
