Peer Review Week began 19 September 2022 under the theme of “Research Integrity: Creating and Supporting Trust in Research”. Through various blog articles, podcast, and webinar, we discussed this crucial subject throughout the week, celebrating the essential role peer review plays in maintaining research quality.

MDPI will be attending the AGU Fall Meeting 2022 (AGU22), held in Chicago and online, from 12 to 16 December 2022. The AGU Fall Meeting is the most influential event in the world dedicated to the advancement of Earth and space sciences. The conference unites the Earth and space science community to share findings, connect like-minded scientists from around the world, and advance our profession and shared passion for the impact of science. We are pleased to announce that 182 MDPI journals are included, of which:

● 21 journals received their first CiteScore.
● 85% of journals increased their CiteScore from 2020.
● 155 journals (85%) ranked above average, in at least one category.

In connection with the 14th International Coral Reef Symposium (ICRS 2020, https://www.icrs2020.de/), originally planned to be held in Bremen, Germany, in July 2020, arrangements were made with the journal Oceans to produce a Special Issue associated with the conference to which conference delegates could submit papers based on their oral presentations or posters. This is the second Special Issue linked to the Bremen ICRS.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the conference was postponed. A virtual conference was held as the 14^th ICRS online in July 2021, and an in-person meeting (15^th ICRS) is now expected to take place in July 2022 in Bremen, Germany.

Nevertheless, to provide attending delegates with an appropriate outlet for their material, a first Special Issue (entitled “The Future of Coral Reefs: Research Submitted to ICRS 2020/21”) based on papers submitted by July 2021 is in the process of publication in Oceans. Twelve accepted manuscripts have already been published online after being finalized (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/oceans/special_issues/coral_reefs) by 8 November 2021 (more will be published at a later date), thus ensuring the publication of 2020/21 manuscripts in the near future.

However, since the follow-up in-person meeting is now to take place in July 2022, it has been agreed that a second Special Issue will be published in 2021/22 in Oceans. This sister volume will retain the same name and continue to reflect the conference themes. Manuscripts for this second volume need to be submitted by 30 September 2022.

Instructions for submission may be found at https://www.mdpi.com/journal/oceans/instructions. All submissions will be subject to standard reviewing procedures to ensure the high quality of the writing and the accuracy of the content. Oceans has no restrictions on the length of manuscripts, and hence short papers based on either oral presentations or posters will be considered.

This second volume will be edited by Oceans editors in cooperation with an editorial support team led by Prof. Dr. Christian Wild, chair of the 14^th and 15^th ICRS.

Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to submit manuscripts, but they need to have their text checked by a native English speaker or make use of MDPI’s English editing service (https://www.mdpi.com/authors/english). Only manuscripts that are well written in high-quality English will be considered and sent out for review.

Academic editors play a crucial role in leading our journals and ensuring that each article undergoes a robust and timely peer-review. With the launch of Topics this year and addition of Topic Editors to our family of academic editors, we decided it would be a good time to restructure our academic boards, thus providing more clarity and support for each role. MDPI is pleased to announce the launch of a new position—Topical Advisory Panel Member, that will replace the previous position of Topics Board Member. The Topical Advisory Panel will be comprised of early career researchers eager to gain experience in editorial work.

The main responsibility of the new members of the Topical Advisory Panel is to regularly provide support to Guest Editors, Topic Editors, and Section Board Members. The responsibilities of the Topical Advisory Panel are available here: https://www.mdpi.com/editors.

Each year, the members’ performances are evaluated, and outstanding members are promoted to the Editorial Board by the Editor-in-Chief.

To qualify as a Topical Advisory Panel Member, applicants must:

• Have expertise and experience in the field related to the journal;
• Have received a Ph.D. in the last 10 years, approximately;
• Have at least 6-8 published papers in the last 5 years as first author or corresponding author;
• Currently hold an independent research position in academia or a government institute.
