Cover Story: Atmospheric water harvesting offers a route to decentralised freshwater production, but practical sorbents must combine high uptake, low-temperature regeneration and robust handling. We developed Ca²⁺-crosslinked alginate beads incorporating MIL-101(Cr) or MIL-100(Fe), with graphene oxide as a photothermal absorber. The beads retain the characteristic water-sorption behaviour of the MOFs, while GO enhances solar heating and increases water release under simulated solar irradiation. Cr-containing beads deliver the highest water uptake, while the composite architecture remains functional after repeated adsorption–desorption cycling, highlighting a promising structured platform for solar-assisted atmospheric water harvesting. View this paper
