Cover Story: In March 2020, the Falles Festival in Borriana, Spain, became the epicenter of a COVID-19 outbreak, with an alarming attack rate of 42.6% among the attendees. Fast forward to June 2022, and a comprehensive study was conducted on 473 adults who had attended the festival. The research aimed to understand the long-term effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection and the impact of vaccinations, especially that of a third booster dose. The findings revealed that 28.1% of the participants experienced long COVID symptoms. However, the booster dose played a pivotal role, reducing the risk of long COVID by 74% and decreasing symptom count by 55%. This study underscores the importance of vaccinations in mitigating the long-term consequences of the virus in addition to the pressing need for continued research and therapeutic strategies for those affected by long COVID.
