The two-axis coupled electromechanical actuation system (TCEAS) is widely utilized in multiple industrial fields, but its tracking performance and stability are severely hampered by complex nonlinear friction, parameter uncertainties, and strong coupling effects. To address these issues, this paper proposes an adaptive robust stable tracking control (ARSTC) method with friction compensation. First, the friction characteristic of TCEAS is analyzed and a continuously differentiable friction moment function is introduced to accurately describe the nonlinear friction phenomenon. Then, a dynamic analysis model for the system considering friction nonlinearity and model uncertainty is established. Furthermore, the developed ARSTC algorithm leverages adaptive control to estimate and compensate unknown friction parameters (enhancing precision) and robust control to suppress disturbances (ensuring stability). Finally, the superiority is jointly verified by stability analysis and extensive comparative numerical test results. This work demonstrates a practical approach for high-precision control of TCEAS, which has important theoretical significance. Full article

This paper presents a novel methodology for minimizing power losses in brushless DC (BLDC) motors through the implementation of adaptive flux control techniques. Conventional motor control strategies, such as direct torque control (DTC), typically employ fixed flux values, which often result in suboptimal performance, particularly under dynamic load and speed variations. To mitigate this inherent limitation, two adaptive flux control methods are introduced: incremental conductance (IncCond) and fuzzy logic. These proposed strategies facilitate real-time dynamic adjustment of the stator flux, thereby optimizing motor performance and significantly enhancing system efficiency. Experimental validation confirms the efficacy of these adaptive techniques, demonstrating substantial improvements in power loss reduction and overall efficiency when compared to traditional fixed flux control strategies. Notably, the fuzzy logic control strategy achieves the highest efficiency, registering a system efficiency of 66.59%, which surpasses both the incremental conductance method and conventional fixed flux control. These findings underscore the considerable potential of adaptive flux control in applications where energy efficiency is paramount, including electric vehicles and renewable energy-driven systems. Electric rope shovels play a critical role in open-pit mining, where their automation and operational efficiency directly affect productivity. This paper presents a LiDAR-based relative positioning method to determine the spatial relationship between the ERS and mining trucks. The method utilizes dynamic DBSCAN for noise removal and RANSAC for truck edge detection, enabling robust and accurate localization. Leveraging this positioning data, a time-optimal trajectory planning strategy is proposed specifically for autonomous swing motion during the unloading process. The planner incorporates velocity and acceleration constraints to ensure smooth and efficient movement, while obstacle avoidance mechanisms are introduced to enhance safety in constrained excavation environments. To execute the planned trajectory with high precision, a neural network-based sliding-mode controller is designed. An adaptive RBF network is integrated to improve adaptability to model uncertainties and external disturbances. Experimental results on a scaled-down prototype validate the effectiveness of the proposed positioning, planning, and control strategies in enabling accurate and autonomous swing operation for efficient unloading. Given that grinding robots are easily affected by internal and external disturbances when machining complex surfaces with high precision, in this study, an adaptive robust impedance control method combining a radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) and sliding mode control (SMC) is proposed. In a Cartesian coordinate system, we first use the universal approximation ability of the RBFNN to accurately identify and actively compensate for complex unknown disturbances in robot dynamics online. Then, an improved sliding mode impedance controller, which uses robust sliding mode control to effectively suppress the influence of RBFNN identification error and residual disturbance on trajectory tracking and ensure the accuracy of impedance control, is implemented. This approach improves the control performance and overcomes the inherent chattering phenomenon of the traditional sliding mode. Full article

This study presents the design and performance evaluation of an adaptive control system for a biped robot with five degrees of freedom. The primary goal is to achieve stable and accurate control despite uncertainties in the robot’s dynamic parameters and changes in environmental conditions. By analyzing the robot’s dynamic structure, an adaptive control strategy is developed, and its effectiveness is assessed through simulations. The results indicate that the proposed approach delivers superior performance. In particular, the system’s ability to update dynamic parameters in real time significantly reduces tracking errors and ensures the robot’s stability under uncertain conditions. Based on a passivity-based control framework commonly referenced in the literature, the adaptive controller enables precise tracking of desired reference signals, even in complex dynamic environments. Overall, the findings demonstrate that adaptive control is a highly effective solution, especially for complex systems such as biped robots. Full article

As the automotive industry continues to evolve rapidly, there is a growing demand for high-throughput reliable communication systems within vehicles. This paper presents the implementation and verification of a fault-tolerant Ethernet-based communication protocol tailored for automotive applications operating at 1 Gbps and above. The proposed system introduces a multi-port Network Interface Controller (NIC) architecture that supports real-time communication and robust fault handling. To ensure adaptability across various in-vehicle network (IVN) scenarios, the system allows for configurable packet sizes and transmission rates and supports diverse data formats. The architecture integrates cyclic redundancy check (CRC)-based error detection, real-time recovery mechanisms, and file-driven data injection techniques. Functional validation is performed using Verilog HDL simulations, demonstrating deterministic timing behavior, modular scalability, and resilience under fault injection. This paper presents a fault-tolerant Network Interface Controller (NIC), architecture incorporating CRC-based error detection, real-time recovery logic, and file-driven data injection. The system is verified through Verilog HDL simulation, demonstrating correct timing behavior, modular scalability, and robustness against injected transmission faults. Compared to conventional dual-port NICs, the proposed quad-port architecture demonstrates superior scalability and error tolerance under injected fault conditions. Experimental results confirm that the proposed NIC architecture achieves stable multi-port communication under embedded automotive environments. This study further introduces a novel quad-port NIC with an integrated fault injection algorithm and evaluates its performance in terms of error tolerance. Full article

This study focuses on optimizing track and grouser structural parameters to enhance UATV drawbar pull, particularly under soft soil conditions. A numerical soil thrust model for single-track shoes was developed based on track–soil interaction mechanics, revealing distinct mechanistic roles: track structural parameters (length/width) govern pressure–sinkage relationships at the track base, while grouser structural parameters (height, spacing, V-shaped angle) dominate shear stress–displacement dynamics on grouser shear planes. A novel DEM-MBD coupling simulation framework was established through soil parameter calibration and multi-body dynamics modeling, demonstrating that soil thrust increases with grouser height and V-shaped angle, but decreases with spacing, with grouser height exhibiting the highest sensitivity. A soil bin test validated the numerical model’s accuracy and the coupling method’s efficacy. Parametric optimization via the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) achieved a 55.86% increase in drawbar pull, 40.38% reduction in ground contact pressure and 57.33% improvement in maximum gradability. These advancements substantially improve the tractive performance of UATVs in soft beach terrains. The proposed methodology provides a systematic framework for amphibious vehicle design, integrating numerical modeling, high-fidelity simulation, and experimental validation. Full article

With the application of tracked mobile robots in detection and rescue, how to improve their stability and trafficability has become the research focus. In order to improve the driving ability and trafficability of tracked mobile robots in rugged terrain, this paper proposes a new type of tracked mobile robot using passive suspension. By adding a connecting rod differential mechanism between the left and right track mechanisms, the contact stability between the track and terrain is enhanced. The kinematics model and attitude relationship of the suspension are analyzed and established, and the rationality of the passive suspension scheme is verified by dynamic simulation. The simulation results show that the tracked robot with passive suspension shows good obstacle surmounting performance, but there will be a heading deflection problem. Therefore, a track drive speed of the driving state compensation control is proposed based on the driving scene, which can effectively solve the problem of slip and heading deflection. Through the field test of the robot prototype, the effectiveness of the suspension scheme and control system is verified, which provides a useful reference for the scheme design and performance improvement of the tracked mobile robot in complex field scenes. Electromagnetic pneumatic microvalves, widely used in knitting machines, typically operate based on a spring-return mechanism. When the coil is energized, the electromagnetic force overcomes the spring force to attract the armature, opening the valve. Upon de-energization, the armature returns to its original position under the restoring force of the spring, closing the valve. However, most existing electromagnetic microvalves adopt a radially asymmetric magnetic yoke design, which generates additional radial forces during operation, leading to armature misalignment or even sticking. Additionally, the inductance effect of the coil causes a significant delay in the armature release response, making it difficult to meet the knitting machine’s requirements for rapid response and high reliability. To address these issues, this paper proposes an improved electromagnetic microvalve design. First, the magnetic yoke structure is modified to be radially symmetric, eliminating unnecessary radial forces and preventing armature sticking during operation. Second, a permanent magnet assist mechanism is introduced at the armature release end to enhance release speed and reduce delays caused by the inductance effect. The effectiveness of the proposed design is validated through electromagnetic numerical simulations, and a multi-objective genetic algorithm is further employed to optimize the geometric dimensions of the electromagnet. The optimization results indicate that, while maintaining the fundamental power supply principle of conventional designs, the new microvalve structure achieves a pull-in time comparable to traditional designs during engagement but significantly reduces the release response time by approximately 80.2%, effectively preventing armature sticking due to radial forces. The findings of this study provide a feasible and efficient technical solution for the design of electromagnetic microvalves in textile machinery applications. Full article

Model-based sensorless control of interior permanent-magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) typically employs an estimation observer with embedded position information, followed by a position extraction process. Although a type-2 phase-locked loop (PLL) is widely adopted for position and speed extraction, it suffers from steady-state tracking errors under variable-speed operation, leading to torque bias in IPMSM torque control. To mitigate this issue, this paper first proposes an adaptive bandpass full-order observer in the stationary reference frame. Subsequently, a Kalman filter (KF)-based compensation strategy is introduced for the PLL to eliminate tracking errors while maintaining system stability. Experimental validation on a 300 kW platform confirms the effectiveness of the proposed sensorless torque control algorithm, demonstrating significant reductions in position error and torque fluctuations during acceleration and deceleration. The study of vibration characteristics and suppression methods in integrated electric drive systems of electric vehicles is of critical importance. To investigate these characteristics, both current harmonics within the motor and nonlinear factors within the drivetrain were considered. A 17-degree-of-freedom nonlinear torsional–planar dynamic model was developed, with electromagnetic torque and output speed as coupling terms. The model’s accuracy was experimentally validated, and the system’s dynamic responses were analyzed under different working conditions. To mitigate vibrations caused by torque ripple, a coordinated control strategy was proposed, combining a quasi-proportional multi-resonant (QPMR) controller and a full-frequency harmonic controller (FFHC). The results demonstrate that the proposed strategy effectively suppresses multi-order current harmonics in the driving motor, reduces torque ripple by 45.1%, and enhances transmission stability. In addition, the proposed electromechanical coupling model provides valuable guidance for the analysis of integrated electric drive systems. Full article

Variable-thrust liquid rocket engines are essential for precision landing in deep-space exploration, reusable launch vehicle recovery, high-accuracy orbital maneuvers, and emergency obstacle evasions of space drones. However, with the increasingly complex space missions, challenges remain with the development of different technical schemes. In view of these issues, this paper systematically reviews the technology’s evolution through mechanical throttling, electromechanical precision regulation, and commercial space-driven deep throttling. Then, the development of key variable thrust technologies for liquid rocket engines is summarized from the perspective of thrust regulation and control strategy. For instance, thrust regulation requires synergistic flow control devices and adjustable pintle injectors to dynamically match flow rates with injection pressure drops, ensuring combustion stability across wide thrust ranges—particularly under extreme conditions during space drones’ high-maneuver orbital adjustments—though pintle injector optimization for such scenarios remains challenging. System control must address strong multivariable coupling, response delays, and high-disturbance environments, as well as bottlenecks in sensor reliability and nonlinear modeling. Furthermore, prospects are made in response to the research progress, and breakthroughs are required in cryogenic wide-range flow regulation for liquid oxygen-methane propellants, combustion stability during deep throttling, and AI-based intelligent control to support space drones’ autonomous orbital transfer, rapid reusability, and on-demand trajectory correction in complex deep-space missions. This paper presents a comparative analysis of electric field (E-field) mitigation in inductive power transfer (IPT) systems. It focuses on how distributed capacitor placement interacts with coil topology to influence E-field emissions. The study compares traditional sequential-winding coils and the alternating voltage phase coil (AVPC), which employs a sequential inversion winding (SIW) structure to enforce a 180° phase voltage opposition between adjacent turns. While capacitor segmentation is a known method for E-field reduction, this work is the first to systematically evaluate its effects across both conventional and phase-inverted coils. The findings reveal that capacitor placement serves as a topology-dependent design parameter. Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations and experimental validation show that while capacitor placement has a moderate influence on traditional coils due to in-phase voltage relationships, AVPC coils are highly sensitive to segmentation patterns. When capacitors align with the SIW phase structure, destructive interference significantly reduces E-field emissions. Improper capacitor placement disrupts phase cancellation and negates this benefit. This study resolves a critical design gap by establishing that distributed compensation acts as a tuning mechanism in conventional coils but becomes a primary constraint in phase-inverted topologies. The results demonstrate that precise capacitor placement aligned with the coil topology significantly enhances E-field mitigation up to 60% in AVPC coils, greatly outperforming traditional coil configurations and providing actionable guidance for high-power wireless charging applications. This study presents the state-feedback and output-feedback adaptive shared trajectory tracking control laws for nonlinear Euler–Lagrange systems subject to parametric uncertainties and output constraints framed within linear inequalities. The logarithm-driven coordinate transformation is used to ensure that system outputs are consistently bounded by defined regions, while model-based adaptive laws are used in the machine controller to estimate and cancel parametric uncertainties and the human controller can be given arbitrarily. The stability of the whole controlled system is proved by Lyapunov stability theory, and simulation examples are used to illustrate the performance of the proposed shared control laws. Full article

Prognostic and Health Management (PHM) strategies are gaining increasingly more traction in almost every field of engineering, offering stakeholders advanced capabilities in system monitoring, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance. Primary flight control actuators are safety-critical elements within aircraft flight control systems (FCSs), and currently, they are mainly based on Electro-Hydraulic Actuators (EHAs) or Electro-Hydrostatic Actuators (EHSAs). Despite the widespread diffusion of PHM methodologies, the application of these technologies for EHAs is still somewhat limited, and the available information is often restricted to the industrial sector. To fill this gap, this paper provides an in-depth analysis of state-of-the-art EHA PHM strategies for aerospace applications, as well as their limitations and further developments through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). An objective and clear methodology, combined with the use of attractive and informative graphics, guides the reader towards a thorough investigation of the state of the art, as well as the challenges in the field that limit a wider implementation. It is deemed that the information presented in this review will be useful for new researchers and industry engineers as it provides indications for conducting research in this specific and still not very investigated sector. To enable the practical application of passive back-support exoskeletons employing pneumatic artificial muscles (PAMs) in tasks such as agricultural work, we evaluated their assistive effectiveness in a half-squatting posture with a staggered stance. In this context, assistive force profiles were adjusted according to body posture to achieve more effective support. The targeted assistive force profile was designed to be continuously active from the standing to the half-squatting position, with minimal variation across this range. The assistive force profile was developed based on a PAM contractile force model and implemented using a cam mechanism. The effectiveness of assistance was assessed by measuring body flexion angles and erector spinae muscle activity during lifting and carrying tasks. The results showed that the assistive effect was greater on the side with the forward leg. Compared to the condition without exoskeleton assistance, the conventional pulley-based system reduced muscle activity by approximately 20% whereas the cam-based system achieved a reduction of approximately 30%. In this research project a large linear electromagnetic actuator (LLEA) was designed and manufactured. The electromagnetic performance was published in previous works, but in this paper we focus on the technological challenges related to the manufacturing in particular. This LLEA was based on the magnet-free switched-reluctance principle, having six effective energised stator “teeth” and four passive mover parts (4:6 ratio). Various aspects and challenges encountered during the manufacturing, transport, and assembly are discussed. Thermal expansion of steel contributed to the decision of the modular design, with each module having 1.3 m in length, with a 2 mm longitudinal dilatation gap. The initial prototype was tested with a 10.6 m length, with plans to extend the test track to 60 m, which was fully achievable due to the modular design and required 29 tons of electrical steel to be built. The stator laminations were cut by a bespoke progressive tool with stamping, and other parts by a CO2 laser. Mounting was based on welding (back of the stator) and clamping plates (through insulated bolts). The linear longitudinal force was on the order of 8 kN, with the main air gap of 7.5–10 mm on either side of the mover. The lateral forces could exceed 40 kN and were supported by appropriate construction steel members bolted to the concrete floor. The overall mechanical tolerances after installation remained below 0.5 mm. Actuators and power electronics are fundamental components of modern control systems, enabling high-precision functionality, enhanced energy efficiency, and sophisticated automation. This study investigates evolving research trends and thematic developments in these areas spanning the last two decades (2005–2024). This study analyzed 1840 peer-reviewed abstracts obtained from the Web of Science database using BERTopic modeling, which integrates transformer-based sentence embeddings with UMAP for dimensionality reduction and HDBSCAN for clustering. The approach also employed class-based TF-IDF calculations, intertopic distance visualization, and hierarchical clustering to clarify topic structures. The analysis revealed a steady increase in research publications, with a marked surge post-2015. From 2005 to 2014, investigations were mainly focused on established areas including piezoelectric actuators, adaptive control, and hydraulic systems. In contrast, the 2015–2024 period saw broader diversification into new topics such as advanced materials, robotic mechanisms, resilient systems, and networked actuator control through communication protocols. The structural topic analysis indicated a shift from a unified to a more differentiated and specialized spectrum of research themes. This study offers a rigorous, data-driven outlook on the increasing complexity and diversity of actuator and power electronics research. The findings are pertinent for researchers, engineers, and policymakers aiming to advance state-of-the-art, sustainable industrial technologies. Full article

Surface electromyographic (sEMG) signal-driven joint-angle estimation plays a critical role in intelligent rehabilitation systems, as its accuracy directly affects both control performance and rehabilitation efficacy. This study proposes a continuous elbow joint angle estimation method based on time–frequency domain analysis. Raw sEMG signals were processed using the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) to extract time–frequency features. A Scale Temporal–Channel Cross-Encoder (STCCE) network was developed, integrating temporal and channel attention mechanisms to enhance feature representation and establish the mapping from sEMG signals to elbow joint angles. The model was trained and evaluated on a dataset comprising approximately 103,000 samples collected from seven subjects. In the single-subject test set, the proposed STCCE model achieved an average Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 2.96±0.24, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 4.41±0.45, Coefficient of Determination (R2) of 0.9924±0.0020, and Correlation Coefficient (CC) of 0.9963±0.0010. It achieved a MAE of 3.30, RMSE of 4.75, R2 of 0.9915, and CC of 0.9962 on the multi-subject test set, and an average MAE of 15.53±1.80, RMSE of 21.72±2.85, R2 of 0.8141±0.0540, and CC of 0.9100±0.0306 on the inter-subject test set. These results demonstrated that the STCCE model enabled accurate joint-angle estimation in the time–frequency domain, contributing to a better motion intent perception for upper-limb rehabilitation. The Furuta pendulum is a well-known benchmark in the field of underactuated mechanical systems due to its reduced number of control inputs compared to its degrees of freedom, and richly nonlinear behavior. This work addresses the challenge of accurately modeling and controlling such a system without relying on traditional linearization techniques. In contrast to the common approach based on Lagrangian analytical modeling and state–space linearization, we propose a methodology that integrates a high-fidelity multibody model developed in Simscape Multibody (MATLAB), capturing the complete nonlinear dynamics of the system. The multibody model includes all geometric, inertial, and joint parameters of the physical hardware and interfaces directly with Simulink, enabling realistic simulation and control integration. To validate the physical fidelity of the multibody model, we perform a frequency-domain analysis of the pendulum’s natural free response. The dominant vibration frequency extracted from the simulation is compared with the theoretical prediction, demonstrating accurate capture of the system’s inertial and dynamic properties. This validation strategy strengthens the reliability of the model as a digital twin. The classical analytical formulation is provided to validate the simulation model and serve as a comparative framework. This dual modeling strategy allows for benchmarking control strategies against a trustworthy nonlinear digital twin of the Furuta pendulum. Preliminary experimental results using a physical prototype validate the feasibility of the proposed approach and set the foundation for future work in advanced nonlinear control design using the multibody representation as a digital validation tool. The properties of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) for the development of controllers, together with electronic emulation of physical process by Digital Twins (DT) significantly enhance the optimization of design and implementation in nonlinear control applications. The study emphasizes the use of the Raspberry Pi (RBP), a low-cost and portable electronic board for two interrelated goals: (a) the Electronic Control Unit (ECU-RBP) implementing a Lyapunov-based Controller (LBC) for nonlinear trajectory tracking of P3DX wheeled robots, and (b) the Digital Twin (DT-RPB) emulating the real robot behavior, which is remotely connected to the control unit. ECU-RBP, DT-RBP and real robot are connected as nodes within the same wireless network, enhancing interaction between the three physical elements. The development process is supported by the Matlab/Simulink environment and the associated packages for the specified electronic board. Following testing of the real robot from the ECU-RBP in an open loop, the model is identified and integrated into the DT-RBP to replicate its functionality. The LBC solution, which has also been validated through simulation, is implemented in the ECU-RBP to examine the closed-loop control according to the HIL strategy. Finally, the study evaluates the effectiveness of the HIL approach by comparing the results obtained from the application of the LBC, as implemented in the ECU-RBP to both the real robot and its DT. In modern vehicles, Autonomous Driving Systems (ADSs) are designed to operate partially or fully without human intervention. The ADS pipeline comprises multiple layers, including sensors, perception, localization, mapping, path planning, and control. The Robot Operating System (ROS) is a widely adopted framework that supports the modular development and integration of these layers. Among them, the path-planning and control layers remain particularly challenging due to several limitations. Classical path planners often struggle with non-smooth trajectories and high computational demands. Meta-heuristic optimization algorithms have demonstrated strong theoretical potential in path planning; however, they are rarely implemented in real-time ROS-based systems due to integration challenges. Similarly, traditional PID controllers require manual tuning and are unable to adapt to system disturbances. This paper proposes a ROS-based ADS architecture composed of eight integrated nodes, designed to address these limitations. The path-planning node leverages a meta-heuristic optimization framework with a cost function that evaluates path feasibility using occupancy grids from the Hector SLAM and obstacle clusters detected through the DBSCAN algorithm. A dynamic goal-allocation strategy is introduced based on the LiDAR range and spatial boundaries to enhance planning flexibility. In the control layer, a modified Pure Pursuit algorithm is employed to translate target positions into velocity commands based on the drift angle. Additionally, an adaptive PID controller is tuned in real time using the Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm, ensuring robust speed regulation in the presence of external disturbances. The proposed system is practically validated on a four-wheel differential drive robot across six scenarios. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed planner significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods, ranking first in the Friedman test with a significance level less than 0.05, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed architecture. Volumetric error decoupling is a critical prerequisite for effective error compensation. In this paper, the forward volumetric error model is established using the screw theory. Additionally, the Jacobian matrix based on the product of exponential is derived to construct the linear relationship between the volumetric error and the axis motion and decouple the volumetric error model. To address the limitation of compensation motion, a step-by-step decoupling method is proposed, where attitude and position errors are compensated sequentially. After detecting the actual geometric errors of the grinding machine, the volumetric error can be determined, and the compensation motion commands for each axis are calculated to correct the volumetric error. The simulation result shows that the mean value of the comprehensive error ranges can be reduced from 19.7 μm to 1.8 μm, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method. Full article

To overcome the limitations of single-objective optimization in permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) performance enhancement, this study proposes an adaptive moving least squares (AMLS) for a 12-pole/36-slot built-in PMSM. Through comprehensive exploration of the design space, a systematic approach is established for holistic motor performance improvement. The Gaussian weight function is modified to improve the model’s fitting accuracy, and the decay rate of the control weight is optimized. The optimal adaptive meta-model for the built-in PMSM is selected based on the coefficient of determination. Subsequently, sensitivity analysis is conducted to identify the parameters that most significantly influence key performance indicators, including torque ripple, stator core loss, electromagnetic force amplitude, and average output torque. These parameters are then chosen as the optimal design variables. A multi-objective optimization framework, built upon the optimal adaptive meta-model, is developed to address the multi-objective optimization problem. The results demonstrate increased output torque, along with reductions in stator core loss, torque ripple, and radial electromagnetic force, thereby significantly improving the overall performance of the motor. Control valves in nuclear systems operate under high-pressure differentials generating intense transient fluid forces that induce destructive structural vibrations, risking resonance and the valve stem fracture. In this study, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was employed to characterize the internal flow dynamics of the valve, supported by experiment validation of the fluid model. To account for nonlinear structural effects such as contact and damping, a coupled fluid–structure interaction approach incorporating nonlinear perturbation analysis was applied to evaluate the dynamic response of the valve core assembly under fluid excitation. The results indicate that flow separation, re-circulation, and vortex shedding within the throttling region are primary contributors to structural vibrations. A comparative analysis of stability coefficients, modal damping ratios, and logarithmic decrements under different valve openings revealed that the valve core assembly remains relatively stable overall. However, critical stability risks were identified in the lower-order modal frequency range at 50% and 70% openings. Notably, at a 70% opening, the first-order modal frequency of the valve core assembly closely aligns with the frequency of fluid excitation, indicating a potential for critical resonance. This research provides important insights for evaluating and enhancing the vibration stability and operational safety of control valves under complex flow conditions. Full article

For transmission systems with regular order excitation, the order vibration will be conducted to each component of the system and affect the stability and service life of the system. A method with a regular non-circular active pulley is proposed in this paper, which is used to counteract the regular order excitation and the regular load excitation. A toothed belt drive system with second-order excitation is taken as an example. According to the existing analytical model of the tooth belt drive system, the modeling process and analytical solution algorithm of the system are derived. Based on the coordinate transformation, the algorithms for any position of an elliptical pulley and the common tangent of the circular pulley are given. And the algorithm for the arc length of the elliptical pulley at any arc degree is proposed. The influence of the phase and eccentricity in the elliptical pulley on the dynamic performance of the system is analyzed. Then the experimental verification is carried out. This shows that this system can generate excitation opposite to the main order rotational vibration of the driving pulley and opposite to the load of the driven pulley. Under the combined effect of other load pulleys in the system, there will be an amplification phenomenon in its vibration response. Considering the decrease in the belt span tension and the decline in the performance of energy-absorbing components after long operation, the presented method can better maintain the stability of system performance. This method can provide new ideas for the vibration reduction optimization process of systems with first-order wave excitation. Full article

Accurate segmentation of densely stacked and weakly textured objects remains a core challenge in robotic depalletizing for industrial applications. To address this, we propose MaskNet, an instance segmentation network tailored for RGB-D input, designed to enhance recognition performance under occlusion and low-texture conditions. Built upon a Vision Transformer backbone, MaskNet adopts a dual-branch architecture for RGB and depth modalities and integrates multi-modal features using an attention-based fusion module. Further, spatial and channel attention mechanisms are employed to refine feature representation and improve instance-level discrimination. The segmentation outputs are used in conjunction with regional depth to optimize the grasping sequence. Experimental evaluations on camshaft depalletizing tasks demonstrate that MaskNet achieves a precision of 0.980, a recall of 0.971, and an F1-score of 0.975, outperforming a YOLO11-based baseline. In an actual scenario, with a self-designed flexible magnetic gripper, the system maintains a maximum grasping error of 9.85 mm and a 98% task success rate across multiple camshaft types. These results validate the effectiveness of MaskNet in enabling fine-grained perception for robotic manipulation in cluttered, real-world scenarios. Full article

This study proposes the Weight-Incorporating A* (WIA*) algorithm for mobile robot path planning. The WIA* algorithm integrates three weight factors into the Conventional A* cost function: an Obstacle Collision (OC) weight factor for collision avoidance, a Path Distance (PD) weight factor for path length optimization, and a Driving Suitability (DS) weight factor for environmental considerations. Experimental validation was conducted using nine 2D grid maps and a 3D virtual environment. The results show that WIA* achieved zero obstacle collisions compared to an average of 9.11 collisions with Conventional A*. Although WIA* increased path length by 12.69%, it reduced driving suitability cost by 93.88%, achieving zero cost in six out of nine test environments. The algorithm demonstrates effective collision-free path generation while incorporating environmental factors for practical mobile robot navigation. Full article

Shaded-pole induction motors are the most frequently used single-phase electric motors in low power applications. Their main advantages are reliability, robustness, low level of noise and vibration, relatively simple manufacturing technology and cost effectiveness. These motors are the driving units of choice in the applications where the variable speed and high starting torque are not of utmost importance, in spite of the fact that they are characterized by inferior efficiency, power factor and starting torque compared to their single-phase counterparts. They are equipped with auxiliary massive copper coils at the stator side, which makes them self-starting, and strongly influence the motor characteristics. This study deals with the numerical modeling and analysis of a shaded-pole induction motor with a C-shaped stator frame. The analysis was performed using 2D finite element-based transient magnetic numerical modeling. The primary objective was to investigate the influence of the number and size of the auxiliary shaded coils on the output torque speed characteristic. We explored the possibility of reducing the amount of material used while preserving the crucial/nominal properties of the motor. Our results have important implications in manufacturing simplification, which may be important for the eco-design of small motors and actuators, including their recycling and/or reuse process. This paper studies the adaptive practical tracking control (PTC) problem for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems (UNSs) with nontriangular structured uncertain terms and unknown parameters, where the boundary of nontriangular structured uncertain terms depends on all state variables. Based on the improved adaptive backstepping technique, the state feedback tracking controller and update laws are first constructed. Then, by seeking the linear relationship between the state vector and the error vector, and by utilizing the comparison principle, it is verified that the developed adaptive PTC scheme can ensure that all signals of the closed-loop system are bounded and the tracking error converges to a bounded region. Finally, two examples, including a numerical example and the dual-motor drive servo system, are provided to show the effectiveness of this control method. Full article
