Cover Story: Climate change represents a persistent environmental stressor that may affect human well-being through interacting thermal, disaster-related, and psychosocial exposures. This narrative review examines the biological and psychological mechanisms linking climate-related stress to mental health, with particular attention on neuroendocrine regulation, inflammation, oxidative stress, and neuroplasticity. It distinguishes adaptive stress responses and subclinical manifestations, including eco-anxiety and ecological grief, from clinically diagnosable psychiatric disorders. By considering physical comorbidities, inequalities in adaptive capacity, and clinical preparedness, this review synthesizes the current evidence and identifies implications for clinical assessment, continuity of care, and the adaptation of health systems to climate-related health risks. View this paper
