Cover Story: Antimicrobial resistance threatens sustainable poultry production, animal health, and food safety. This review explores bacteriophage therapy as a targeted approach to controlling major poultry pathogens, including Salmonella, avian pathogenic Escherichia coli, Campylobacter, and Clostridium perfringens. It examines phage biology, bacterial killing, biofilm disruption, therapeutic applications, and advances in phage cocktails, genomics-guided selection, and formulation. By integrating antimicrobial stewardship and the One Health framework, the review highlights the potential of phage therapy to support targeted antimicrobial use and safer poultry production. Further validation under commercial conditions is needed to establish its effectiveness and contribution to reducing antibiotic use. View this paper
