Food and Agricultural Microbiology
A section of Microbiology Research (ISSN 2036-7481).
Section Information
Microorganisms play indispensable roles along the food chain—from soil fertility to food preservation, fermentation, and safety. This section covers all aspects of microbiology relevant to food and agricultural systems, encompassing beneficial, spoilage, and pathogenic microbes. Topics include microbial contamination and control in primary production, foodborne and zoonotic pathogens, microbial ecology of food and feed, and biotechnological applications in fermentation and preservation. Particular attention is given to research that advances food safety, quality, and sustainability across the farm-to-fork continuum. Contributions employing molecular, ecological, and technological approaches to address microbiological issues in food systems are encouraged.
