Cover Story: Egg yolk plasma (EYP) is the translucent fraction isolated from chicken’s egg yolk. We propose EYP as a multi-compositional, soft biomaterial for tissue engineering due to its low cost, abundance and availability. We demonstrated human salivary cells in EYP supplemented with cell culture media, or in EYP with egg white media free combination. The issue’s cover shows gelled EYP (GEYP) formed through freeze thaw treatment and its 3D-printed into specific geometries. In our experiments, salivary gland cells’ specific placements in the biomaterial combinations were examined with histology 3D-Cryo well insert. View this paper.
