World Animal Day—“See the World Through Their Eyes”, 4 October 2026
World Animal Day, which is celebrated annually on 4 October, serves as a catalyst for the animal welfare movement, mobilizing it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals by raising awareness and taking action for their well-being.
This year’s theme is “See the World Through Their Eyes”. On a planet increasingly affected by climate change and the consequences of human activity, it is important to remember that we are not the only ones impacted. This World Animal Day, we invite you to pause, shift your perspective, and consider the world through the eyes of animals.
In recognition of World Animal Day, MDPI supports global efforts in the conservation of animal life and, consequently, the planet. Through open access publishing, we invite you to explore selected articles, Special Issues, and journals that span fields such as animal sciences, biology and ecology, encouraging knowledge-sharing and collaboration with the aim of making a difference in the welfare of animal.
