MDPI establishes Open Access agreement with Qatar National Library
We are happy to announce the establishment of an Open Access (OA) agreement with Qatar National Library (QNL). QNL is committed to supporting and helping Qatar authors publish OA at no cost. Through this national agreement, QNL will cover the Article Processing Charges (APC) of manuscripts published by Qatar-based corresponding authors in MDPI journals.
Eligible corresponding authors affiliated with Qatar research centers and universities are prompted to choose QNL as part of our Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP) when they submit an article via our online submission system. The program will be selected automatically if authors submit their papers using their institutional email and/or a computer registered with the institution’s IP range. QNL will then crosscheck the information and confirm the APC funding.
Qatar authors that have their APC covered by QNL are advised to include the following sentence in their acknowledgments: "The publication of this article was funded by Qatar National Library".

David Reber: “I was given the opportunity to attend this year's Spring Meeting of the Electrochemical Society in Seattle and was kindly supported by an MDPI Technologies Travel Award. At this large conference, over 2500 abstract were presented, I was able to display my research to a wide audience and meet many fellow researchers. During the session I chaired, I also gave my presentation and the audience of about 50 people was very responsive and many questions were asked after the talk. At my poster, I then spent two hours constantly talking about my project and discussing with peers working on similar subjects. I was able to talk to some of the big players in the field, but also enjoyed discussions with colleagues at an earlier point in their respective careers. I was lucky enough to win the third place poster prize and had a quick chat with several high ranking officials from the ECS. Exposure to such a wide international audience was a highly beneficial career experience and I was able to significantly grow my professional network. Thank you again for supporting me with a Technologies Travel Award.”
Maher Abujelala: "Attending the 20th International Conference on Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) was a fantastic opportunity for me to gain more insight into HCI research. It is one of the largest HCI conferences, with around 1700 participants from 74 countries attending this year's event. The conference spanned 6 days in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA), and it was highly interdisciplinary. As a computer engineering PhD student focusing on the fields of HCI and artificial intelligence, attending the conference really helped me to extend my knowledge and experience in both my research area as well as other interesting areas.
On my first day at the conference, I had the chance to attend a tutorial session on Social Media Analysis for the Masses. As part of my research, I always deal with analyzing human physiological data and surveys that either we collect in our projects or are collected by other researchers and are publicly available for research purposes. However, I have never had the chance to learn how to collect millions of people’s data from social media and analyze it, but I was able to do that in this tutorial within a few hours.
It was very interesting to attend the various presentations, and I was very delighted to meet researchers from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Greece, Germany, Belgium, France, Norway, Austria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, China, South Korea, Japan, Australia and many other countries, and be able to ask them questions and have discussions with them during the Q&A and coffee sessions. I am very honored to have been able to attend this conference and meet so many experienced and driven individuals. I hope to have the chance to attend this conference again in the future, and I would like to express my gratitude for Technologies Journal for giving me this opportunity."

MDPI Becoming a Member of UKSG
We are proud to announce that MDPI is now a member of UKSG, the UK´s largest scholarly communications community. Through UKSG, different stakeholders share their knowledge and experience in order to improve the knowledge and information environment for researchers. UKSG´s members include universities, publishers, content providers, intermediaries, and other similar organisations. Members participate in discussions and events on issues around scholarly communications.
The UKSG Annual Conference and Exhibition is a flagship initiative from the UKSG and one of the most stimulating events in the scholarly communications calendar. MDPI Signed the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA)
The DORA initiative addresses the need for advanced approaches in the evaluation and measurement of the quality of scientific research outputs. It is a worldwide initiative covering all scholarly disciplines. MDPI proudly joins a list of more than 400 organizations around the world which support DORA’s recommendations for improving the way the quality of research results is evaluated.
