The Impact of Diet and Exercise in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Development
This special issue belongs to the section "Sports Nutrition".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are among the leading causes of death worldwide and have a profound impact on society. They include conditions such as coronary artery disease, stroke, and hypertension, which affect the heart and blood vessels. The societal significance of cardiovascular diseases is substantial, as they lead to increased healthcare costs, reduced productivity, and a lower quality of life for millions of people. Well-known risk factors for CVDs are unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, smoking, and stress. Dietary interventions and regular physical activity have been demonstrated to be key players in strategies for the prevention of and therapy for CVDs. This Special Issue will focus on the combinatory impact of diet and physical activity on cardiovascular health. We welcome original research and reviews on the physiological mechanisms underlying the combinatory impact of physical activity and diet on the development and prevention of CVDs. In addition, this Special Issue is interested in research on therapeutic strategies that combine physical activity and nutrition for primary and secondary prevention, especially in real-world scenarios.
