Vitamin Supplementation in Enhancing Maternal Health and Fetal Development
This special issue belongs to the section "Pediatric Nutrition".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Maternal nutritional status preconception and during pregnancy has important consequences for pregnancy outcome, offspring development, as well as maternal health. Changes in vitamin status from preconception through early and late pregnancy and postpartum have been studied across sectional data, longitudinal data, as well as randomized controlled trials in different countries and regions with variable evidence. Explore the influence of vitamin supplementation on reproductive and maternal health from preconception, through early and late pregnancy, to early childhood and across life, to determine the influence of supplementation would be directive for future nutrition guides. The possible transgenerational effects and mechanisms of vitamin supplementation, such as epigenetics, are important directions for further research. Molecular mechanisms and pathways based on animal experimentation also need to be explored and discussed. Vitamins such as folic acid, B12, inositol, as well as other B groups, Vitamins A, C, D,E, and others, as well as emerging new nutrients, could be studied. Possible interaction between environmental exposure and vitamin supplementation could be explored, which may provide a unique intervention in the current complex environment.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Nutrients is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
