Pediatric Nutrition
A section of Nutrients (ISSN 2072-6643).
Section Information
Pediatric Nutrition focusses on all nutritional aspects regarding children, from birth up to 18 years of age. This section covers a huge age group, going from the preterm infant of 0.5 kg to the obese adolescent of 150 kg. A major area of interest of this section regards "the first 1000 days", a period including fetal life, starting at conception. "Being a child" and "nutrition" are the focus of this section. Awareness of how early diet can affect later health is increasing. The importance of "early nutrition" and "long-term consequences" has become obvious during recent years.
We encourage the submission of manuscripts that provide novel and mechanistic insights on the role of nutrition in children in the short and long term, both preventive and therapeutic. Relevant epidemiological data and research focusing on animal models and on appropriate “in vitro” approaches are also welcome. We expect a broad range of topics to be covered, such as:
- infant nutrition
- preterm nutrition
- sport nutrition in children
- food allergy in children
- microbiome development in children
- infant formula
- breastfeeding
- pediatric obesity
- malnutrition in children
- enteral feeding in children
- intravenous feeding in children
- eating behavior in children
